I really don't know how some people do it.
I recently lost my Vexor. A band of Scorpion battleships camped out on a stargate. The unfortunate thing is I didn't have any insurance. Guess I've learned a valuable lesson there.
Anyway, I'm trying to raise enough isk to buy a replacement Vexor or a Thorax, the problem is the time it's taking. It takes me two hours+ to fill the hold of my Iteron with 25,000 units of Plag with my single Miner II. At this speed it's going to take 28 trips, that's 56+ hours of mining.
Can somebody recommend a way of making isk quickley, making this mining process more efficient, or, at the very least, this slow process of waiting for my hold to fill in my Iteron a little more fun
Cheers

Two thoughts straight off.
- join a corp, get them to help out. You have an Iteron, you can haul. I'm sure they will welcome that for mining ops. You should be able to get a fair share for hauling. - find a group of people mining and offer to haul for a fair share.
Either way, lots of people mining will fill up your hold in no time and you can make several trips to drop it all off.

Sorry to hear about your ship lost but comfort yourself in the fact that we have all been through it... and those that haven't soon will
Anyway, I once read somewhere some wise advice about mining: Mining in an industrial is a waste of your time. As you have already realized, it takes TOO long.
If you want to go the mining route, and assuming u don't have any other cruisers available, get in your biggest frigate, equip it with cargo expanders and a microwarpdrive/afterburner and mine ore. Even better, mine ore into a secure cargo container; as many and as big as u can afford. Once all your containers are full, dock your frigate and bring your indy back (also equipped with cargo expanders) and bring back in as much ore as you can for each trip.
Rinse and repeat.
I'd however suggest you become an agent runner and get you a lvl 3 agent however. I find from personal experience that agent running is far more rewarding in the short/long run than mining when starting out.
Just my 2 isk... good luck buddy. Feel free to evemail me in game if you have further questions.

If your¦re bored while mining try mining in 0.0 - it¦s probably very exciting with an Iteron V.
Until some weeks ago the fastest cash could be done by doing agent missions, recycling the Tech II component rewards, getting some implants and sell them for 15M on the market. I got 50M per week this way. But since they nerfed it I doubt agent missions are now still more profitable than mining.
You could get a lot of money by hunting npc pirates but this could be difficult with an Iteron V. Until you have your next cruiser mining is probably the best way. Maybe mine with an Imicus into a large secure container and when it¦s full get the Iteron to empty the container into the station. So you can mine with more than 1 Miner II to speed it up.

Yes, joining a decent corp who help out their members with mining is the quickest way to get the Vexor back..
I'm actually selling Vexors at a good price at the mo' - perhaps convo me in-game and we can reach a mutually beneficial arrangement. _________________________________

I guess ' ' is thekey here...
I bet Skillz or Chewy have a spare Vexor for you as well, please report to Ostingele for pick up
Regardless, good luck. Your Heavy Neutron Blaster II perfectly strikes Serpentis Chief Sentinel, wrecking for 660.4 damage.

Yeah, don't mine in an Iteron.
Get a decent frig (Incursus worked well for me) and equip two miners. Then go mine into a canister, when the can is full, come pick it up with your hauler.
You will mine faster, have some ability to defend yourself (i.e., you can mine something better than Plag) and you'll get money faster.
Then, once you do have your cruiser, don't fly it outside of very safe space until you have the isk to insure it.
IMHO... :)

In most mining corps you could make several mil a day hauling for corp mining events.
If you want to do it yourself, then go buy yourself a mining frigate and some secure cans. Haul the secure cans out to a field with the indy, then dock and switch to the frigate. Fill the cans, then go dock and pick up the ore with the indy. Rinse and repeat. Still not highly efficient but at least twice as fast as mining in your indy with 1 laser. Even more efficient if you get a good frigate and use mining drones as well.

Can-mine jaspet or indy-mine Bistot.
To can-mine jaspet, get a nice frigate (like an Imicus) and an indy. Go to a nice 0.4 system like Carrou, mine your a$$ off into a can, and call in for backup every time rats come--there's always someone hunting. Then grab an indy and pick it up. One can of jaspet is worth like 3 million plus...
To indy-mine Bistot, find an edge system with Bistot and manage (somehow, I've tried 3 times and gotten very close but failed) get an indy there. Equip it with one miner 2. Then mine bistot for hours in a fringe system until you fill up. THIS WILL TAKE A WHILE. But why use an indy? Because its not that much slower than a frigate and with a frigate you'll be spending 95% of your time hauling back and forth anyway. An indy of bistot is worth like 5-6m.

With an iteron V, you can have other people mine for you in secure space.

SPirante : The best think to do is to find a friendly corp, or some freelancer corps that will need a hauler. If you managed to find out some miners, you can try to haul for them in exchange of some money or % of mined ore.
I recommend you anyway the copr option. Corporations usually use to make mining ops, where a lot of players are involved (as many as possible) and mine during many hours. Payout is generally high, as many coprs use to share in equivalent shares, regardless of the ship you got and the time you spare mining/hauling/defending.
Last mining op I did, using a Maller for mining/fighting, I played during 4 hours to get 4.55 millions isk...You'll be able to get a lot of Vexors with that.
Good luck in finding your corp.
PS : try to sign with your character name instead of "Ian"

Wow!! What an excellent response. Thanks.
It appears I have four choices here; firstly join a corporation, secondly use a combination of Iteron, Imicus and Cargo Containers, thirdly join a group of miners and share the load, and finally take somebody here up on their offer of a free Vexor and lose another ship Skillz was kind enough to rob me of my first Vexor some months ago.
I'm gonna try using the combination of Iteron, Imicus and Cargo Containers first. The largest secure container I can get in my Imicus with Cargo Expanders is a Medium. I can get about 1000 units of Plag in one of these. I'll see how this works out, but I'm not very hopeful. This is what I'm doing:
1) Use Imicus to transport a Medium Secure Cargo Container to mining site. 2) Fill Container then fill the cargo hold of the Imicus. 3) Return to station where my Medium Secure Cargo Containers are located (4 jumps). 4) Transfer mined minerals to the station and pick up another Medium Secure Cargo Container. 5) Return to mining site.
Perhaps I ought to use my Iteron to bring my Cargo Containers closer to the site.
What do you think
Cheers

Yeah, use your iteron to place some really large containers around your mining field, do a couple or five trips then start mining into these cans with a 3-turret frigate.

Alone option....
2 Days in ur Indy mining Omber/kernite is more than enough to buy a Vexor
5 Days in ur Indy or 3 days in your Vexor mining Omber/kernite is more than enough to get a Thorax (spite that for mining is preferably to stay with ut Vexor)
20 Days in ur Vexor/Thorax mining Omber/kernite is more than enough to build/buy a Dominix Battleship
10 Days in ur Dominix Battleship mining Omber/kernite is more than enough to build/buy a Apoc Battleship
30 Days in ur Apoc Battleship mining omber/kernite is more than enough to be enough to buy other Apoc and maintain their insurances... or even be prepared for Titans that would be released on 2010
Other possible option is ... join a good corp ... but of course u already knew that!
