Hi all
I am playing about with the setup for my Typhoon. My current setup is based on some of the advise that has already been posted on this forum, but I am wondering if my setup can be improved upon.
Currently I am running...
3 1400mm Howitzers 1 Medium Smartbomb 4 Heavy Missile Launchers ( to be improved with named ones) 1 XL Shield Booster 2 Shield Boost Amplifier's 1 EM Hardner 7 Cap Relays
With this setup my cap recharges in 155 seconds.
I have noticed that without tracking / damage mods the 1400's are a bit hit and miss. Can anyone recommend a better setup to improve damage and ROF whilst still keeping a decent cap recharge rate?
Also I know that I can fit another 1400 onto the ship if I change my setup a bit and go with power diagnostics. Does anyone use this method, if so with what success? Is there anyone using 800's on thier Typhoon? I have no tried them yet as I like long range combat.
Until Chaos is updated with my skills I cannot test any setups out on there, hence the post.
Thanks for reading.

If you have high gunney skills things like counterbalanced mods and tracking computers help very little. 1400mm are hit and miss but with good gunnery skills they will miss less and less. The setup you have is defensive in nature, its designed to keep you alive long enough to get the other guy to take enough damage and warp out or die. By going shield tank you do sacrafice a some firepower but not much really, also you can try using 50% thermal instead of that second shield amp. Keep working your skills and your cap recharge should drop to around 140sec and get some arbalests or at least xr3200 launchers they pretty cheap.
When relays get nerfed as it seems they will soon it will be time to get the ultimate armor tanks.. ahem..

I have had some success on chaos with 4xsiege launchers and 4x800mm... the rest of my setup is just like yours with the exception of the fact that I usually either use an afterburner or a multispecteral hardener in place of one shield boost amp, and a warp disruptor in place of the other one.
Its an excelent balance of long and short range firepower, IMO... you can tear stuff up (not as good as blasters, but for no cap) at point blank, but if someone is faster than you 4 launnchers worth of missile spam is still decent. +++
It's called "low security space" for a reason. |

4x 1400mm 4x h-50 1x em hardener 1x thermal hardener 1x large shield booster 1x shield boost amplifier 4x Power diagnostic system 1 3x cap relay 1
i find this is a impressive setup 5100 shield 5400 cap(260 recharge time) best tier 1 imo Mimiru > It'd be a tie, the monkies nerfed pooflinger wouldnt have enough tracking to hit the parrot orbiting him, but the parrot's beak is so small it couldnt break the monkey's fur tanking. |

Edited by: Chai N'Dorr on 17/02/2004 09:41:52 Hmm, mine's a bit different, currently outfitted for Agent missions and some NPC hunting:
High 3x 1400mm 1x 425mm (projectile) 3x heavy missile launcher 1x missile launcher (with defenders)
Med 1x Large Booster 1x AB 1x MWD 1x Cap recharger
Low 1x Overdrive 1x Damage mod 1x Tracking mod 1x RCU 1x Cap relay 1x Powercore 1x Nano
The 425mm is the odd item in here, one the one hand it's got to do with the heavy req's on the 1400mm's, on the other hand it is a nice bit of back up in case something get's too close for my liking. And I am in love with the sound it makes.... chugga-chugga-chugga

no dmg mod, because i cant afford to not have the cap recharge rate, and it doesnt make a tremendous difference.
i suppose another cool setup could be
4x 800mm 4x h-50 1x mwd 1x large shield booster 1x em hardener 1x thermal hardener 3x dmg mods 4x cap relays
with 9 heavy drones of course Mimiru > It'd be a tie, the monkies nerfed pooflinger wouldnt have enough tracking to hit the parrot orbiting him, but the parrot's beak is so small it couldnt break the monkey's fur tanking. |

4 1400 4 named H-50s (Limos, XR3200, Arbalest---upgrading as I find them; mostly XR3200s for now)
1 large shield booster 1 kinetic hardener (a must for fighting Guristas and Serpentis---Non Inertial Ballistic) 1 Annointed EM ward 1 Heat Deflection (will upgrade to Dithrigonal)
3 Damage mods (currently one Counterbalance, 2 Pneumatics, will upgrade to all three Counterbalance when opportunity permits)
4 named Power Diags (any of the four: Type D, Mark 1, Beta, Local---named power diags use less CPU than standard ones).
In a tanked setup, I will change the damage mods for named cap relays (Type D, Mark 1, Beta, or Local).

Once you loose your shields... your armor is gonna be chewed up in no time So if you can somehow get a XL Clarity on ... you might have no probs... if not... I wouldn't like that setup.

Tempest + 4x 800mm + 2x Heavy Launchers + 2x Heavy Nosferatu
Ends every over the top, low slot hogging cap relay setup in this thread. 1400mm without damage modules, without ship bonus to damage and without any assistance to tracking/range (tracking computers, ect) is nothing more than a tin can waiting for the right can opener.
And 4x 1400mm on a Typhoon as described will not remotely put my armor tanked Typhoon in danger, which only uses a single cap relay.
I mean its like you want corporations to oblige each other like its sex or something. Pffft I would rather **** my enemy.- Rohann
Be careful out there. That other guy waiting in the queue for the gate MIGHT be a baby-munching frock-burner, YOU JUST DON'T KNOW!- Lallante |
