After trucking around in 0.0 for the last few months, I decided to come back to Empire and run some level 4 missions to get my standings up so our corp can try level 5s. I head over to my old agent in Uphallant, get a mission, gear up and off I go in my Dominix. It's Angel Extravaganza and that probably saved my ass.
I'm in the first room, finishing off the last battleship, when I get a private message from Alterari Phoenix of ATM.
Stainless Rat:"Yes?" Alterari Phoenix: "can u please kill rats in top belt" SR: "Sorry, I'm in a mission" AP: ":(" AP: "ill pay 1 mill" SR: "Ok, one sec." AP: "omg ty" SR: "omw" AP: "ty" AP: "what u flying?"
I'm an old softy for miners, and he's paying cash. As I'm initiating warp, Admiral Akbar pops up in my brain, "IT'S A TRAP!!! You're in LOW-SEC, you MORON!!" "Oh, so that's why he wanted to know what ship I was flying", I think as my ship slides out of warp and to it's obvious doom.
Yep, there's an Ishkur and Myrmidon at point blank range. Alterari in the frigate and Aeolu Pneuma in the battlecruiser. Not only did I warp into a trap, I warped into it at 0km. Locked, webbed and scrambled. Shields are already down and cap at 50% from fighting the Angels. "****, I just paid for this thing!! LAUNCH DRONES!!" I send them at the Ishkur, ignoring the swarm of drones around me. I figure the frigate is probably doing the scrambling, if I can take him down I might get away. All four of my 350mm rails begin firing at him, even though I know it's probably futile to hit a zippy assault frigate with those beasts.
Except, he's not moving. Not very quickly anyway. Certainly not in the tight orbit he should be. He just sits there and gets pounded. With most of his armor gone, the Ishkur warps out. I might just survive this!
Alas, I'm still scrambled. Do I destroy the drones or try and take down the Myrmidon? I'm carefully husbanding my cap to keep it at peak recharge while nervously watching my armor melt away... knowing that targeting the drones is the downfall of many who fight Gallente, I decide to kill the Myrmidon. All guns and drones attack, ripping up his shields and tearing chunks out of his armor. The battlecruiser's tank is failing fast, but so is mine. Capacitor running out, armor at 20%... the Ishkur returns, damaged but combat-worthy.
I broadcast to local, "Give up and I won't kill you too hard." Best I could think of, maybe they'll surrender... no. Stay on the Myrmidon, he's doing all the damage. I'll have to force him to run if I'm going to survive this. Capacitor failing. Armor failing... 15%...10%... the Myrmidon is into hull. He's not warping out! The battlecruiser is holed through and explodes! The Ishkur, out of ammo, takes off. In no condition to handle anything more, I take off without looting.
The Stainless Rat and his ship, "Not In The Face", survives again, taking a pirate ship with him. But that's not enough. Rushing back to home base, I grab my loot cruiser, the "G1bb0rz me3 l00t!!1!". Maybe I can beat them to the wreck. As I slide into the belt there's Aeolu in an Enyo, but he warps out immediately! The pirate ran from a cargo cruiser with no guns on it, haha! I nab their loot, salvage the wreck, snap up some T2 drones they left flying around and tear out of there before they realize I'm unarmed.
Survived the trap, wrecked a pirate ship, brought back the loot and salvaged the pirate's wreck. Classy.
Hey, they still owe me 1 million ISK.

I can confirm Alterari is an utter failure. The biggest achivement is to solo a level 4 in a domi

Alterari Phoenix is in fact made of fail. Not to bash on his "I-won't-warpout-when-not-scrammed" buddy too much, but I distinctly remember a corpmate from the time period I was in corp with Alterari, having a ship named "Not in the Face." Seeing as Alterari is literally about 12, I suspect a connection. |

that's the beauty of the internet.
you can wage a hard fought dogfight against another pilot, macro-managing you finely honed killing machine, entirely focused on spilling his pod-goo - your only concern being to destroy him entirely. And as their ship's hull buckles under sustained fire a tiny thrill runs through your body. You've won, and victory is sweet.
Finding out you just wtfpwned a 12 year old would probably take the shine off it a bit.

You think fighting him as a pirate is bad, but you should try having him on vent... Let's just say he didn't survive the trial period in one of my former corps.

Nice story. Congrats on the kill.
Not on your e-peen waving though! I mean how in the world can you conclude they are the worst pirates ever? Guess it will teach them to bring a dominix themselves next time, and a geddon, thron, eos, absolution and 3 x vagabond, 2 x arazu and a huginn just to make sure you die and not them. Let's see if you think they are better pirates then...

A PvP fitted AF and PvP fitted BC vs a PvE fitted BS with no shields and half cap landing at 0? They probably should've obliterated him. The fact that he came out on top is pretty good.

Well, any good story needs a little embellishment.
Quote: How was your domi set up?
I was fighting Angels so probably something like:
High: 4 x 350mm Rails w/Antimatter and Iron 1 x Salvager 1 x Tractor
Med: 2 x Drone Nav 1 x 100mn AB 2 x Cap Recharger
Low: 1 x Large Armor Rep 2 x Explosive Hardener 2 x Kinetic Hardener 2 x Thermic Hardener
Drones: 6 x Ogre 5 x Warden 5 x Hammerhead 5 x Hobgoblin 1 x Medium Armor Rep
It's a setup that's short on cap and can't survive a prolonged slugfest, but it serves fine to slice through most level 4 missions.
That Dom has since been destroyed by an x13 gate camp in the very same system. *tear*

Yup nice story, better still at holding your head while all around you, your armour is failing.
I gotta go find out where my Stainless Steel Rat book collection is stored. They were awesome stories, keep practising your writing skills and you too could write as well as well as Harry Harrison.
