Was just something that I was thinking about when replying to the Patch Names thread... if Tech 2 is here within the first year and Shiva due around May then what will happen after Tech 5 is released... Do CCP have plans for any higher tech after that or just more events and/or expansion?
I'd hate to think that Eve has a "product life" before they did a player wipe and start all over again! heh

There was talk of techs going up to 5 and behond...
thats at least 3-4 years of play right there.

probably just tech 6 and so on
right now they have plans for up to tech5, both new items and a story line

This game will be huge. It will become an escape of RL. Think of the thousands of occupactions you can place in here. I bet you will see accountants, Lawyers, even police jobs. Could you imagine working for concord...... They have plans on working as an agent and any company. Each NPC corp has all those divisions. Right now they dont mean anything, someday they will be hiring away from player corps. Moving up on rank based on your standings.
CCP has begun a game that will take years to implement 100 %. Once its complete you will never be bored. They might even make a TV show like Star Trek or Andromida. Where every character we play would have a place in the show. Ohh and a voting from the audience on what should happen next in prime fiction. Now that would be cool the non player people driving the game. Not know we are here at thier mercy.
Come to think of it I think they need to drop the R&D time line and start up the political wars......

Yup, this one has potential for sure. But what are we supposed to do for 3 years until it's fully implemented?

I for one, wouldnt want the game to be finished. I think it would bore me if i did know that this is it. "No more to come." The thing that this game have a story and things evolve (new techs) is whats making this better than ordinary multiplayer games.
Take the new stations event. A storry that becomes a new feature. As a newbie i cant use and will not for a long time be able to use this new "feature" but the fact that they included it made me happy. Its thoes small things....

Just want to put something straight. I wasn't saying Eve had no future I just wondered if CCP have actually got a roadmap (ie the roadmap we was promised multiple times and which never actually made an appearance).
With CCP putting up the price of the game I'm just worried that they are running out of cash...

Well the price change was because of new taxes and the falling US dollar, it's understandable that over time they'd have to raise the price because they're getting less and less per dollar each month.
As for the future of EVE, I heard a while ago that the devs have the storyline worked out for the next 8 months, and the general storyline for the next couple years, so I think there's a plan in place. And although we never got the roadmap, we are getting frequent updates on what's being worked on and what's being prepared for future mega-patches like Shiva.

If they can't fix the lag with a lot of people activating their modules in the same solar system, then EVE has no future.

I think CCP has counted on that after tech 5 they will have enough money to live good the rest of thier lifes and just shut down the servers

Hope not lol.. out of what 100k subscribers? I'm sure that there is a couple crazys out there whom aren't going to take to kindly to haveing the point of their lives snuffed out like that.

Beeeeeep, wrong answer mate. They are after our cash, just like all the salesmen of the world. It's the same when your company comes with a silly excuse to reduce your paychek like:
"Oh you know war in Iraq is affecting world economy, and those Afgan grashoppers can be quite heavy on the Hollands tullip productivity so we have to save some money pal"
And then they sack 20 of your coleagues and report record profits for the past year

God I love that guy. I just get the vision of Blue Balls from the man show running around tearing things up.
Almost as much fun as watching the salvation army's santa clause robbing the Kmart store he was at. Just bloody hilarious.
