I get it!
Sorry to go against the flow, but I agree with you. I started a similar thread not long ago, and I see many of the same people telling you the same things they said to me. (They never will 'get it'. :-))
It seems to threaten people somehow, when you say the word, "Morals" in this forum.
Fact is, EVE is a lawless, backstabbing, dog-eat-dog universe, and the DEV's seem to like it like that.
I agree that it is not the game I expected it to be when I signed up, but then, what I read on the box and in the manual was interpreted by me as something different than what some others interpreted.
The fact is, it is much easier to have a criminal career in-game that it ever would be in RL. What surprises me most is the lack of a support system by CONCORD. ..."Calling the police" is just one example. ...Can't be done.
If given the choice between punishing a player that makes it their entire game to cause pain and suffering to other players (and make no mistake about it, it may be a game, but the feelings are very real!), and *SEVERAL* players that want to quit because of what the 'griefer' did to them, I will side with the players, not the 'destroyer' of gaming pleasure.
Contrary to what may be said, EVE is (at least advertised to be) a game that is supposedly set up so you can play a trader or a pirate. This works only until the two meet somewhere... In which case, the trader doesn't have a chance.
Since it's also impossible to just say, "Go ahead and be a destroyer! But please don't PK me!", it is simply something that will never change in the game.
...No matter how much hurt is caused by it, the ones causing it just say, "It's only a game people! Get over it!" And the ones hurt say, "This isn't what I paid for!"
Read the Newsletter that just came out! Under the heading "Marketing" they even say that the new players coming in are just "...fresh meat".
In a nutshell, I think that's the *moral stand* of CCP...
So, choke it down and just play, slave, or quit because of it (like so many of us have already!)!
It's the nature of the beast....
