In response to the growing number of MN players, we've decided to start a new thread with updated info (the other one was 4 years old, afterall). We schedule regular meets and have a blast, so join up and come meet some of us!

Ok, Smallish short notice thing.
A friend of mine from my corp is coming into town. Wants to hang out and drink, sorry youngins...
We're meeting at the Town Hall Brew Pub (right next to the U of MN) at 4pm on Saturday. Yes, it's early. We're lushes. Deal. ;)
It is indeed at the other end of the Bridge o' Infamy, so getting there is a bit of a pain. Park in the ramp, honestly, enough breakins for stereos there, you really want to. Side street = bad.

Moved from Minnetonka to Detroit Lakes - a little ways out now - BUT - Would LOVE to meet other eve players AND have a good reason to run back down to the cities!

For the next one after that, people were throwing around yesterday the idea of Elsie's bowling alley in NE Mpls, seating side, 6pm on the 20th (sat!)

If you don't HAVE any yet, you can get them at The Source on Larpenteur and Snelling. That's where I got mine
I have no real grasp on how to play them yet, but it would probably be easier to figure it out with a group than on my own. The flash instructions on teh website are ok, but I still am quite fuzzy on how it all works.

In a somewhat err, nonstandard use for this thread, if any of the Minnesota playerbase is interested in being in a movie as an extra - I'm crew on a local 'medium' budget feature length thing that needs extras on the Saturday after our meet (the 27th). It's going to be in Wisconsin close to Mpls, but if people are interested, we're busing people from Fantasy Flight Games in Roseville, early Sat morning. Should be done and getting people home by sundown (7ish).
It's a fantasy movie based on a RPG game, very geeky. We sadly have no spaceships, but we do have orcs, horses, hangings, and such. I've been working (paid even!) off and on for a year and a half with the crew as the Key Grip. Being an extra is an unpaid thing, but it's fun, and we feed you. Scraggly hair and/or beard is a plus, as is any fest style clothes. The trailer for the movie is up at http://www.midnight-film.com

Also...in irony, I have a old friend who still plays MUDs (yes, they still exist, and they pay as much as we do for Eve!) and Ktig set up a meet for her game... same bar, same day, same time. Great minds, or something. So if you show up, mumble something about geeks you might get 6-12 MUDers. She's forewarned, and if she hears any spaceship talk, she'll aim people in my direction. Elf/fantasy crap will result in pawning off lost players toward her....

Ok...
Saturday, 7pm the 9th of Feb. Grumpys in DOWNTOWN Minneapolis. Use google to find it, do not choose Coon rapids or Northeast Minneapolis. Parking in back, off a bus line, pretty close to the Light Rail. Someone else can give specific directions so I won't be accused of getting Shadowfax lost again!
They have a little raised up section near the front, by windows. Will try to snake one of those tables, it's good for floating in and around, if we get a fair crowd, we can expand.
Post here if you think you are coming. Drop a mail in game if you think you want/need pictures of folks to find us. Sounds like 4 people so far. 2 of whom are 6'4 or taller, so you can look for that (or bring a stepstool, your call).
You underage people need to step up and get something going at the Chatterbox. I do believe they said you can be there until either 8 or 9pm with ID if you don't drink (they serve food)

Sunday, the 24th of Feb 3pm. We're meeting up earlier than normal at the Chatterbox Cafe in St. Paul. This is a place you youngin's can go to. So show up, or we'll feel perfectly justified going back to bars where you can only stay till 9pm....

Ok, it's been a bit since we had one of these...
Last two have been at the St. Paul Chatterbox to accommodate the kidlets. However, earlier in the day in Minnesota (Pre 8pm?), I do believe you can be at Grumpy's in Minneapolis under 21. Saturday is a bit too trendy and loud, so going to try to opt for Sunday.

Sunday, May 4th, 5pm. Grumpy's bar in Minneapolis, on Washington (Not the one in Northeast). They have food, pool, darts, a great jukebox, and most importantly, delicious adult beverages. (Magner's cider!)
Last time we had an ok turn out, but 2 guys who were sitting at the same bar, not seeing the rest of us, being ****ed off because they thought they were the only ones showing. Sunday has a bit lower general turn out, and if Kate the Waitress is there, (a cute redhead) you can ask where the spaceship geeks are (if you can handle talking to cute redheaded waitresses). I have it on good intel she attends the local sci fi con, so don't be bashful. Also - she's not single, so don't bother boys. Can see about posting where we are sitting (I always try for the raised front window area) and I will be wearing one Eve shirt or another.
Otherwise, you can also Evemail Thaadd Sligo in game, or ask in the MN-Eve channel. I'll switch the message of the day to have the details when I get home from work.
X up if you're going to go, or if you have some burning reason why you think it should be somewhere else. Would be nice to get some of the out of towners in. I like Grumpies because I can walk there, and it's reasonably near highways, busses, and has parking. And tatertots.
Oh, and for those of you who might not have gone to these, it's half just hanging out talking spaceship geek ****, and the rest just having a few drinks with cool folks. You don't need to bring a laptop, worry about people griefing you (I will indeed drink with hostiles) and some brave people even bring their SO's (who have been known to bugger off to another table).

Well, I guess there is a bunch of things going on on Sunday, birthdays, family ****, etc...
So I am going to call it, and go on a scheduled Op instead (antisocial, perhaps, but last time we got great kills with this FC). (*No, this is not with this character)
Not sure how much notice people need. I want to get people out to the bar, but it's really more fun with 5 or 6 people verses like ...3 Best one of these I went to had like 7 people and was accidentally on the Zombie Pub crawl.

Ok, calling something for a bar - Grumpies, on 1111 Washington Ave in Minneapolis. Sunday the 15th June 5pm. Yes, this is a weird time. Young players can be there for a bit until 8pm. Parking in back, on a bus line, good food, good juke box. I'll try to grab the front window seating area. Lemme know if you are going to show. Ok, a bit short notice, but hey (will post in the MN channel in game, as well) planning is overrated.
Sunday, Sept 7th. 5pm at Grumpy's at 1111 Washington Ave S.in Minneapolis (near the Dome). Early hour chosen so you kids under 21 can still go for a bit. I think they kick you out at 8pm. By then we should be sick of you anyway :)
Parking is in back, near the Light Rail. They have food, pool, and more importantly Magners Cider on tap. It's semi dead most Sundays so you should be able to figure out who are the Eve geeks. Failing that, I know the bartenders/waitresses there a bit, so if you're really nervous about trying to figure out who is who, check with them.
So far it's myself and another Goon. I'll wear a bee shirt, and he's really ****ing tall. If it's available I'll grab a table next to the windows on the raised section of the main room. |

Hey all Mn Eve'ers! Nice to see ya. Would enjoy meeting up with ya, but keeping up may be an issue. (Meaning=I got socks older than most of you!). That being said, are there any 'older' players in this thread or on the MN-EVE channel that are just hanging around and not saying alot either because they feel out of place or maybe senile dementia has robbed you of all clever thoughts?
Anyway, I've been playing EVE (or EVE has been playing me) for coming up on 3 years and have occasionally run accross the MN pilot here and there but never thought to check for a thread. Glad to have found it and glad to have been able to constructivly kill off the first hour of work today! Hope to chat some in game with you guys!!

The Channel is basically hang out and talk about random things, Yes you do see RED's and some times even war targets, but its all in good fun.
Some people are like OMG im in the same channel with GOONIES ? oh i cant be in the same channel, its not like we are having sex with them ( well some people might be, but i don't know about it )
So join the channel, for you newbs its always a good place to get help and maybe find a corp.

Maybe do another meet in a month or so.. after holidays..

Well I got a bit of age on me too!!! In wine and special BEER thats called cellered. So I'm well cellered!!
In a corp with my son annd a bunch of his buddies. They keep me laughing a lot. SO teh keeping up is fun.
I hold nothing against Goons either as long as they hold nothing against me... namely smartbombs, lasers, rails, etc. the stuff that hurts when they poke you with them!! |

But yah. MN channel is chill. there are a few of us hostile eachother just a bit of baiting once in a while, but all in good fun.

PS: I'm impressed by all the Minneapolis peeps. I was born there so it's awesome to see it =) Oh, and how many of us there are. For their sake they stay anonymous, but 2 guys in my corp are MN too I was like wtf =)
