Edited by: Commander Kahn''Alzaor on 27/09/2007 14:50:31 Hi all,
For some reason i was avoiding sleep and found my way into the EVE picture tutorial. Check out this link on the IGB Linkage Old img i know but the concept is what matters
Keen to see weather you think this should stay out or with the rapid advancements of IGB sites possibly return to the game?
Cheers, Kahn

This screenshot look really old. I'm pretty sure this is just an idea they once had... ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. It's just twice as big as it need to be... |

I know dude but what counts is the concept. How many of you would be interested in the reintroduction of such a feature?

you could pull it off with the eveapi. Just have people donate isk to an alt, parse the xml journal log. Problem would be that subscribers may have to wait an hour before the transaction shows up on the api.

I would be interested in knowing where in the doc information on charging fee's is actually located. ------------------------------ ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? Donate to Neo XX!

This is not something the IGB or the api does, it's somethimg your webserver does. As the one before you said: users donate to some char, that dude checks his balance from time to time and adds the chars who donated to him to the list of allowed people on his server (manually or now with the eve-api, deosn't matter).
pleasurehub works that way for example (not that i would be using such services.. )

Think about it though. Does it honestly sound like that image is suggesting you do ALL of that? To me it sounds like they literally can charge a subscription fee every time you view their website. The other way just sounds illogical. ------------------------------ ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? Donate to Neo XX!

ok, it could be interpreted as 'The mimi-browser allows webmasters to charge you directly for viewing their sites'. But i still think its more a big *wink* to all the users which are able to build websites, to tell about the ideas the devs had when they build in the browser, to point out new ways to make isk.
(*wink* -> Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl.. absolutly no idea how to say that in english)

Well I guess you could use the EVE-Browser features to get the Character name and use the API of your own character to check if the visitor has paid the fee. If he has you display the website. If not then you display some kind of notice that he has to pay first... ---------------------------------------------- The glass is neither half full nor half empty. I don't even think the API was out when that image was made though. It would have been pretty much impossible to build that system. ------------------------------ ~ Eve Online API Programmer ~ - Evewebspace Developer - Like my stuff? Donate to Neo XX!

Exactly; Which is what lead me to assume that it was a built in feature long since removed.

when that image was created, it was probably something they where intending to add. I do not ever recall the eve browser doing it automatically. Maybe it was a beta feature?

Edited by: zibelthurdos on 01/10/2007 07:52:03 the way it used to work was you would pay the person the subscription fee and either send this person an evemail saying you have subscribed, or you subscribe through the owners website, and sen him the isk. the owner would then log in to eve and manually check his/her journal for your entry and then set your name as allowed in his sites user database. --------------------------------------------- now, you subscribe through the owners website.( and pay the fee ) the website tells you to wait an hour. every hour the website runs a cronjob and gets the journal data through the API and parses it looking through for all transactions with your name, matching the transaction type and amount. and then automatically updates your user as allowed. ----------------------------------------------- I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubble gum" |

I'd rather have a "Pay Now" button that automagicly transfered the isk, and granted access --
