This thread is disappointing... so much time and effort all gone into a wasted cause, and hardly constitutes as an effective database like CCP tried to advertise. The very fact you are posting names of known thieves is giving them the publicity they do not deserve. Every example is simply the misplaced trust from a CEO to an individual, and lets face it, if you know a person well enough, through time, and interaction, you should be an adequate judge when assigning roles. Even then there are exceptions as in real life where people will still knive you in the back after months or years of relations, but thats just hard cheese, and no amount of data collection is going to help you, or anyone else, forsee something like that. Don't get me wrong, I am anti-thieving, but you are effectively placing a rather large cherry on top of their cake of achievement, and any sensible CEO would prefer to trust their own judgement than trawl through this never ending accusational ping pong of 'he did this he did that' waffle. EVE is hardcore and mirrors to a certain extent social events in real life, and if you are foolish enough to fall for a scam, no matter how large or small then all you can do is admit fault and be more cautious in the future. I am sorry for whatever event sparked you to start this crusade, but much better you learn a valid and important lesson than waste so much time and effort into a lost cause, spreading a nice broad grin on the culprits face at the same time. Some people kill other people in EVE, others steal from other people, others make an honest 'living'. Is that not just a simple fact of life? The only way this could ever be effective was if CCP actually policed the game, instantly turning it into a head-slug dribbling press 1-9 and jump a few times /emote dance travesty.

Some people are good at building trust and do it again and again. With this knowledge CEO's could be duped into this. It is a way to identify these people and hopefully someone can avoid being scammed by these folks. We just lost alot of stuff to 2 people who I personally trusted and defended from previous accusations, they left the corp without the majority of our assets. We've rebuilt and recovered as good folk do, This kind of thing speaks to a persons true self, someone who you could not trust in real life.
We, as a corp, are past the incident, and this is not a *****ing session, just my point about this thread being worthwhile, they don't get fame, they get the identification they deserve. I would think for petty theivery like a couple of ships not a big deal, but say 1.5bil from the wallet, all the BPOs a couple of freighters, navy ships... Well that is worthy of this type of thing.

Just a hard part of life. To drive home my point further, were those two people on the list before this happened? If the thread wasnt up and running when it was, shouldn't one assume that people not on the list will still do it anyway? It just seems like a futile form of justice thats all, pointing and shouting THIEF! as a kind of last word. Maybe if they were branded with an overview pirate style icon in their toon info, like a money icon, that would be a more effective method of doing what OP set out to achieve?
As for the people that build up trust, are they not the kind of culprits that make this list obselete? It happens in life, and it happens in game; hard cheese.

Well we have a conundrum:
A. If someone is innocent he would naturally NOT want his name on this list. B. If someone is a scammer who wants to scam again he would also NOT want his name on this list.
How would anyone know who is correct for sure except those involved? Since we cannot know, all I can do is report what is said and let the readers determine who seems to be the most believable.
Now if a prior CEO or a known director of the effected corp were to post here the innocence of the person named then naturally I would believe them and remove the accused name.
And yes I would hope that all corps CEO's would still talk to prior CEO's about any person who wants to join their corp. This is not an end all be all... as I am sure there are many names out there I do not have of thieves that have not been reported or I haven't located yet.
Ask for more proof. Logs from secured containers, screenshots of them being online at the time of the presumed theft. If I, as a ceo would have the job of searching for a corp thief, i would start with a list of ppl that had access, cross-checked with people that were online. Results cross-checked with who were in the area, and of those, i'd start checking their hangars, asking for screenshots of their private contract list and even donations / asset window. I would do this, if i didn't have a confession, and if i had a confession i would screenshot and post it here.
Off-course these can all be falsified, but you are making it tougher for the guy who is trying to abuse the system for which you worked to implement/make known, for his personal pleasure. I could come with my alt and say "XXXXXX was found by our corp to be a corp thief", and you would add him right now, that is my problem.
PS: Guess i was wrong about the united theft. While i don't like that corp, i don't approve of what they did. And yet, i'm still happy that the united got hurt. Go GM mixed feelings. :)

CCP will never do this. They allow corp theft.
Such a measure would not prevent or restrict the possibility of theft, merely introduce a form of consequence, which as of yet there is none, except in threads like these.

I agree with all the points you make here, life is unfair and all that blah. My point is, perhaps a list like this gives a CEO a chance to truly evaluate an applicant prior to bringing them into the corp. Good knowledge. I also think CCP is right in allowing this to happen as long as it happens within confines of the game and that users 'space' meaning not hacking into someone elses account or some other EULA violation.

Hmm. This seems to be classic witch/commie hunt. 1. Accusation is made. 2. The accuser gains an ally and says that this is confirmed. 3. The inquisitor(Fitz VonHeise) comes and talks to the accuser/s (most claiming to be a victim of supposed accused). 4. No proof is requested to prove he/she was not involved is not asked for from the accused. 5. The inquisitor(Fitz VonHeise), with a mob, administers the "Witch" test(often involving drowning the person to see if she lives or dies. 6. The end result is the person is dead, innocent or not.
Hmm. This seems to be a very effective tool to destroy ones reputation for the one you hate. Even with proof provided, what is stopping the accuser or the inquisitor from altering evidence because of a grudge against the accused. With this logic, and in defense of a friend I shall accuse somebody of theft.
I accuse Persecution. He was in the corp where the theft has happened, and is now accusing others of the theft to take the heat off him. Since that is the only evidence provided by him to accuse Talodrine, it shall suffice to do so to him. I ask for more person to confirm that Persecution was in the corp at the time of theft and the inquisitor to question and administer the test.
I also accuse Cyberus, for he has confirmed that Talodrine was the alt of the thief, and that means he was an accomplice to the theft of the corp that Persecution was in. I ask again, I want one(1) confirmation of Cyberus accusing Talodrine as proof that Cyberus was an accomplice, and the inquisitor to administer the test.
Thank you ~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~`~

I still don't understand how this stuff happens, especially at this level, other than pure idots running corps/alliances.
With the exception of an actual technical hack of someone's account, no one but Corp CEO's should have access to Corp assets, with the exception of 'shared' resources like some mins or BPCs, etc. Read: Stuff you can afford to lose without *****ing.
The point on game mechanics is right, but you leave out that there are also game mechanics that allow you to minimize you loses, like making BPCs that you share instead of sharing the friggen BPO!
Lobster Man, hrm. How you got a hold of TWO Titans + billions in isk/assets is amazing and I commend you for truly playing the game to its fullest. You saw a situation you could use to your advantage and exploited the stupidity of others. Well played.
Here is a hint for all you Corp/alliance CEO's: If you can't walk over to someone's house and kick their ass in real life, don't trust them.
EFT screen shots are NOT an accurate example of a ship's abilities. |

Agreed, its just very difficult to sift through forum threads and sort conjecture from proof (which, incidentally could be easily doctored if someone had enough malice for a person), as poor Fitz is no doubt experiencing.
I am not trying to take anything away from the OP, he has done a fine job with what is availible and in principle it is also a fine idea; just that the forum environment from which this has all been gleamed from, and potential for 'witch hunt' as Ancient Cow mentions makes the credibility of data hard to trust. Really, there should be something implemented in game - there are consequences for stealing from a can, and similarly for killing another player; why aren't there immediate/long term consequences (in game) for corp theft? Placing a bounty isn't enough imo, and incures further cost to the victim. Even something like the ability for a CEO to edit a comment, viewable under the relevant corp tag in employment history of a recent corp member, would be beneficial. Almost like a CV
EDIT: hmmm, a good CEO should do that anyway (check with player's former CEO if possible)
