Edited by: Morris Falter on 02/10/2007 09:56:07 I don't know if any of my old corp's posts are still on Rise's forum from last year, but before we merged into collective to be part of the impass campaign, we were part of the outer ring Rise as 133rd Ghost Wing.. just a small corp based mostly around people who knew each other from various real life connections, nothing huge - eve is full of corps like this. Anyway..
Initially, when we joined up with the rise alliance all seemed well - regular gangs, seemed like there was good production, good voice comms, forums, people seemed to know what they were doing. How wrong you can be..
The first sign that things were not as they should be was when 0utbreak came to visit - not, in retrospect, in any great numbers, but organised enough and with the right ships to do hit and run ganks (similar to pandemic legion, if they forgive me the comparison). Suddenly, participation was low, no one wanted to undock or respond in ally channels, people got blown up needlessly.. all the usual stuff.
This went on for about a fortnight, we had some success (I believe the first command ship killmail I was on was an outbreak astarte in 4C- ;), but mostly it was frustration. For us, moving from Stain to Outer Ring was a big change, and we had next to no supplies - asking for people to build things like ships, ammo, even (god forbid) t2, seemed to be a major issue. We had been used to front line fighters getting what they needed when they needed it, and of course having our own established stocks in stain which we could share out with others too. Seeing so much resources being hoovered up by miners / complex runners who had no interest in defending their space in any organised way.. you get the idea.
It just seems like that whoever is leading Rise at the moment (SG?) didnt learn from the mistakes made in outer ring, or whatever they did learn hasnt been applied.
I'm trying really hard not to mention that they elected to become a renting alliance with no home of their own, but the downsides of that should be obvious. Even if the RIT triangle was rise sovereign space (which it definitely is not, whatever the map says), I believe the problems would be similar.
It is not all clouds though - at the end of this, after losing a few (far smarter than me) members who could see the way it was going, it was decided enough was enough, and instead of beating a dead horse, we decided that if we were so smart, actually we could do it on our own, our ideas and ideals were better than those we had seen, and having circular arguments with invisible leadership on a forum would get us nowhere.
We went back to stain, within a week we were in a better shape than a month in rise space had made us, hanging out with some very great and interesting people who no doubt wondered who let the noobs in (the then very new aAa) who didnt **** on their promises, and even if they were going to murder you, would say it to your face, instead of weaseling.
I'm going on a bit - forgive me - I'm basically aiming this at the people in rise (or any other alliance that doesnt really deliver) - if you think you can do better, its normally because you can, but if you're not given the chance to do it, then its time to move on. Don't waste your time with dead horses. Why play the game to someone else's rules?
Good luck o/
