Ok am about to build my first BS and i am hesitating between the 2 Gallante ones. What i intent to do is mining with drones as protection if needed.
Right now i got a Thorax and i mine up to .2 with Haevies as defence quite safely. Fisrt i was about to make a megathron but after reading a few topics about the Dominix i may build one instate... i would like to have the pro's and the con's of both of them from exeperienced miner.
Btw i can use 9 drones at once and have absolutly no combat skill so turrets as defence is out of question anyway i can have corp mate to cover me, but what is i am looking for is pure mining output and be able to have drones to defendme or mine for me.
So does a Megathron or a Dominix fit better for me?

Well, Mega can mount 7 miners while Dom can mount 6 . . .
But Dominix can shield tank with the best of them, and you'll have room for an extra wing of drones (or two).
... That's when I reach for my revolver ... |

If it's your first, and you got less than 160 mil, go for the dominix IMHO

actualy i have the BPC of a Megtathron and almost all the mineral for it missing only like half teh noxcium so like 14k and like 2M of trit and .4M of pyrite, i got the isogen, the maxallon, the zydrines and the megacyte.
So its not really the cost i am looking for its more the evectiveness of the ship.
I also think about using it with my combat character, i was thinking a blaster setup or railgun setup to dish out big dmg and for the time i can build him a Raven. with good gunnery skills everything 4+ does a megathron or a dominix is better for combat and Mining? my combat charcater dont have much drones skills but planning to training them up.

If you¦re going for mining I would suggest a Dominix. You can load 10 heavy drones AND 10 harvester drones and swap them when necessary while mining.
If you¦re going for combat the Mega is the better one. Because of the much better powergrid you can fit more large blasters/railguns/Shield boosters etc. And you can use missiles with a Mega but not with a Dom.
If you¦re going for both I personally would build a Mega because it¦s also a very good mining ship even without harvesters because of the 1 additional turret. IF the additional 40mil costs are no problem.

If I were you, I would go for the dominix. Its good for mining with 6 slots and all those drones, they can also be pretty nasty in a fight has well (better then ne megathron ive fought).

Mega is much better for combat, no question. just having the tracking boost per level of Gallente BS is really nice. You can get just as many turrents on a Mega as a Dom, and get 2 launchers on top of that.
As far as mining is concerned, it's a coin-toss. 6 beams +drones, or 7 beams and less drones. Considering you havn't trained up drone skills much, so just use the Mega. It should be just as effective.

I've had both and I'd say the Dom is much easier to mine in.
As other's have mentioned it has room for a full set of harvies and a full set of heavies + spares. An extra mid slot and it has more CPU - very important if u want to fit out some shield stuff aswell.
All of that outweighs 1 miner 2 imo

Man doesn't anyone care about style anymore?
The dom looks like various things you don't want to associate it with. Bum plug, whale, etc etc.
The megathron just looks WAYYYY better.

I started with a DOminix, and its a wonderful BS to start with. The guns are quite cheap to fit (Cos you don't need loads) and the stats are really balanced to allow you quite a bit of flexibility, the Megathron is basically a Damage dealer/miner, thats it. The DOminix can sheild tank, armour tank, carry enough Ion blasters to hurt, mine well, be fitted for agent missions well. Its cheap to run (no missiles) too.
I miss the drone bay.
But the mega hurts so much, and looks so much cooler....
Dominix was better for mining, the midslots and CPU made it.

If its long term mining you are thinking about, then I would say the Dominix.
Its the only ship that will likely be able to fit a large number of Tech 5 mining lasers in the long run, as its starter CPU is excellent, add tech 5 Co Processors, and I think she was the only ship I worked out that could fit 5 or 6 of them.
Plus if you are doing long-duration mining operations, the spare drones are very handy. Its a bit of a pain to stop, go back and get more drones, and come back out again - small pain, but a time drain

Acutaly i am quite good with missiles with my combat pilot, but he lack of drones skills, but my mining character is very good with drones and miss any combat skills shes just for mining/refining/production. I plan to use the ship for both char for the moment till i can affort a Raven for my combat character.
Looking at the stats at found out that the mega have more cargo capacity, bit more speed(5m/sec), more cap + my skill will give alot of cap and recharge rate bit slower but does with good skill and bigger max cap it will be still any good?Does the 50 cpu more does really change something? i know there is less drones space but if i get 10 harvies and 6 heavies its still not bad to mine 0.3+ if needed i can get more heavies and no harvesters. I think i will go with megathrons also because its look better i hate the look of the dominix 
Anyway thanks for the advice!

I have flown both and with out a doubt the Mega is the better one. You can mine as well in a Mega as in a Dom. In combat Dom's are a bit better than many people think but the Mega is a pure ganking machine. But don't take my word for it. Drunkenmaster is one of the smartest pirates in EVE and he uses the Mega. That should tell you a lot.

Go for a dom then mine for a scorpion in it ( won't take too long with the mins you have left )... then mine up for a mega after you are comfortable flying a battleship. In my experience flying any Tier2 requires a bit more skill as they are far less forgiving. Raven is a joke to be honest ( atm ) so Scorpion is the best for your other char.
Dominix isn't half bad but I see one prob with teir 1 BS ( even the mighty typhoon ) is they may have armor hp... but their resistance to damage for it sux. So know how to loadout your BS for combat. I think Dominix isn't that ugly so don't worry about the way it looks vs the megathron.
The Mega is a powerful ship in many respects. I just think it takes someone who has mastered the dominix or armageddon to fly one and I find it a better ship overall then an apoc.

Had scorps, doms and mega's and megathron is my fave all rounder.
