Here's the bottom line (I had wrote a lengthy sermon... but I'll cut to the chase.)
For as long as you stay in high-sec, be sure of: a) you will never gain respect and admiration from other pod pilots. b) you will never be a part of some event, which the average person could be proud about; destroying an alliance, claiming soverignty. c) you will never have a place, to call "home".
If you wish, to undock and shoot red squares all day long, by all means do just that. But, if you want to see how all those 0.0 pilots with all their expensive toys do it... you're going to have to let them show you, first hand.

Like allowing myself to become target practice? Talk about being friendly..
And I have a 'home' place in High-sec, since I used to take most missions from that station. Essence has become my home over time so lack of home is not my problem. And slaying an alliance is something a single man has no possibility to do, even if he had a Titan in his hands.
And I will never gain respect? I was not asking for such, to ask for it is to make oneself look like a pitiful being. If I gain respect, I will be happy, I just dont expect it server on a platter exactly.
Earn your respect, as the elders usually say. And like one guy said earlier, it's up to me to see if it's "worth it" to enter low-sec. And believe me, my first time experience in low sec was most terrifying and hard-hitting thing I have ever had to experience in any game. And im sure you have been in that seat before. We all have been there before, right?

That's why low-sec is worth it. What else can give you the shakes?

Leave the poor guy alone, clearly he doesn't want to go into low-sec. He's not less of a person for that.

Low sec scares me as well, so i never go there anymore.
But for some strange reason i can't stay in a ship longer then a few seconds in high sec.
Now high sec scares me as well, so i stay at a safe spot all day long in my pod, thinking happy thoughts.

Concord is buggy and will kill your ships for buggy reason in Hi sec cooping missions, so do coop missions in low sec or 0.0.

There are cheaper ways to learn PvP basics than the school of hard knocks. Check out Agony Unleashed for an 8 hour crash course in combat mechanics, or hook up with Eve University for a longer alternative. Darkness Inc. is another favorite of mine.
Nothing wrong with being an ISK grubbing carebear in one body and flitting around with a jumbo frigate blob looking for juicy pirates/anti pirates/carebears/whatever in another. =) Gives you something to do while grinding missions.

Lowsec - how to survive: Read the pirate story threads about how they catch people. Once you know that, you should easily be able to deduce how to avoid being caught. Use local; start by playing in a system with not many people in local, do a show info on anyone you see joining local. Set standings (of -1 or something) to any corps containing pirates (or individual pirates if they are in npc corps). Learn to use your scanner. Missions are safer than anomplies, which are marginally safer than belts. In missions pirates will need to use scan probes to locate you, which you can see on the scanner (with 'use overview settings' unchecked) if you keep refreshing it. Fly only what you can afford to loose. Consider insurance.
And one more: pvp encounters are fun. Sometimes fit a pvp setup, go an sit in a belt and pretend to blow up the npc's. It often wont be long before a local friendly pirate will fly in and give you some pvp practice. You might even win, but if you dont, be sure to thank the nice pirate for the interesting fight. My impression is that most pirates will ransom you if you ask nicly after putting up a fight, although obviously you have to stop fighting for them to pause to consider it.

Low sec is populated by 4 types of people
- Mission farmers, who seem to run unscanble missions in unscramble ships with unsayble names such as akjsdh7aydjhasuidy
- Carebears who get ganked and return to the forum or local to give mr nasty pirate a piece of there mind
- Low sec, "pirates", blobby, incompetent rtards with he mental age of a 14 year old. that delight in using every under handed tactic in order to get a carebear to rant at them. They have a desire to bracketed in the bellow group, but with out support lack any pvp knowledge and instead resort to the forums to boost there fame (Racketeers being prime example)
- solo pwnmobiles, that make a nice fat living off all the above 3 groups. by far the smallest group and quiet amusingly the group all 3 other groups want to get put in them selves... (tho since 2005 this group has dwindled to a meer handfull of pilots)
Result, unless your category 4, which i doubt since u asked this question, if you want to use low sec join category 3, everyone else seems to nowadays :(

I'm not a big pvper by any means but I do stuff in lowsec all the time, I've never had any major problems.
The three key points for me are..
1) Avoid gatecapms. Use the starmap - unless you're one of the unlucky SOBs who goes through first you'll be able to spot most gatecamps. Even so, if traveling *through* lowsec fit your ship with WCS and shield extenders, as big and as many as you can fit. Don't worry about weapons. If you have the skills put on a MWD and a cloak too. If traveling *to* lowsec put a mission and pvp fit worth of modules in your hold and put them on when you arrive at your destination. Make sure to leave unfit modules at the station.
2) Avoid dangerous areas and keep your eyes open. Don't rat, don't mine belts in lowsec. If you're in an exploration or mission site, keep your scanner open, it takes pirates time to probe you out and you have ample to run away (or fit your pvp modules and come back) before anything bad happens to you. Keep an eye on local, your mere presence will attract some pirates (via the starmap) which usually aren't much of a threat but if you see a real pirate gang jump in you might want to be extra careful.
3) And most importantly.. think cheap. Keep your ship insured. Don't fit modules that cost 10x as much and make your ship .07% more powerful. I generally try to fly in the most basic, piece of **** ship I possibly can that will get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Now when you get blown up (because it *will* happen) you're not much.
I like lowsec. I don't mine there (mostly because my exploration skills suck ) but I do do missions there, it's very rewarding and the risk is very manageable.
