Hgey guys, i've been playing around with EFT to come up with a scalvaging ship, and I thought of putting a cloaking device on it. Can I target things while cloaked? Can I use a salvager while cloaked?

No to both questions
You are unable to do anything active while cloaked You can watch and chat.. thats about it.

okey. what is the refresh times between droping cloak and putting it back up.
if someone locks you while you are uncloaked, and then you cloak, do they lose lock?
Ie, my idea is to outfit a frig with MWD's, tractor beams, salvagers, and a cloak, and go around being a ninja.
Dishonorable, yeah. Would I do it? Depends who i do it against. ;)

Delay between decloak and recloak is shown on the module. If you are locked, you can't cloak. If you are cloaked, you can't MWD, lock anything, activate any mods.
It's for scouting/hiding in safespots.

If you are locked you cannot cloak. I believe if you are in the process of being locked you cannot cloak either but need verification

Now, if i come out of a jump gate, can I go into cloak mode, or do i need to get out of the post jump cloak, become visible, then go into my own cloak
for that matter, can i jump cloaked?

Have to decloak before doing anything. That includes turning on your own cloak while in gate cloak.

You can almost use it that way but it has to be the covert ops cloak as it allows you to warp cloaked. If you get it right, you can set warp to a dest and click cloak and you will cloak a second or so after you come out of the gate's cloak which if nowhere near enough time for anyone to lock you.

Oh well, scratch that idea then.

Stealth bombers are also more than capable of walking through gate camps. Jump in, manually set yourself moving in a direction AWAY from the gate and any other players/objects. As soon as you move, hit your own cloak, you will flash onto the overview for a split second and be gone again. With an improved cloak on a bomber you will fly faster than uncloaked, so align to your destination, hit the uncloak button and immediately hit warp. You will instawarp out with no problems.

As long as there is no bubble.. you can get away easy with a stealth bomber or recon.
But be careful, you will pop up for a moment on enemy overview and most fast tacklers and intys will race to the area they saw you and try to get within 2km to uncloak you.
When you jump in and the gate is camped.. just dbl click any point in space, say 1 then hit your cloak button.. if you do it right.. the only thing you will notice decloaking is your guns/turrets.. the rest stays cloaked as your gate cloak drops and your mod cloak turns on. Practice it a few times before you try running a gate. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Yeah? But reading the stats on the cloak objects, isnt it 30 seconds to cloak? 30,000 ms?

Last I checked, that's the recalibration time. That means that it takes 30 seconds for your sensors to fix themselves after decloaking (i.e. you can't target anything for 30 seconds). Max cloaking skill cuts the recalibration in half. The recalibration doesn't affect the Stealths, Covert Ops ships, and Force Recons. --- Amarr/Caldari, and proud of it.

iirc there's also a recloaking time when you uncloak and want to cloak again. that doesn't count when uncloaking from the jumpcloak tho

These people are utterly incorrect. There is one more thing you can do while cloaked. Analyze probe results.
Oh, and the instant before you cloak, hit the MWD. You still get the MWD's benefit for a cycle, though of course next cycle it'll shut off. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |
