I always had massive texture flickering, in particular on Amarr stations. I unblocked advanced settings to mess with z-buffer etc... It NEVER worked, still massive flickering.
After installing new nvidia drivers (56.55) this problem is gone completely. This on a Geforce3 Ti500

No, sun still shines through ships and stations and there are other serious issues actually..
For some strange reason Eve client in window takes only 50-60 of my CPU power. Rest is on the idle process and I have some serious stuttering because of this.

Nvidia drivers are very friendly about rolling back. You can download the complete history if you please and sometimes its useful to go back to a driver closer to when a game was released (not saying for eve just saying in general). Like for example civ3 is very unfriendly to new nvidia drivers on my system. NP just install one closer to when civ3 was released and it runs fine.
To go back just install the lastest or which ever one was stable for you.
So no reason not to get the latest drivers. Just be aware you can go back to what ever driver set you want if your having trouble. Like this guy could just download the one he was using and install that. It will overwrite np.
Ive never known nvidia drivers not to be undoable (ala some microsoft stuff).

Sun shone through ships when i was using FX5200.
Doesn't shine through with FX5900 - 50 chipset.

While the last three driver updates did fix the problem with EVE, many other games sufferd. Someone droped the ball.

sun occlusion works fine here (Geforce FX 5600) but that texture thing really annoys me, i'll give these new drivers a shot and see if they fix it _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

Sun occlusion has been working for like 6 months here. Currently running 53.03 drivers on a Ti4400.

Its not all grafic card that can handle sun occluded so even with the "right" driver it might not work....
I use a GF3 and that has no support for this grafic feature
Also when you have sun occluded you cant play with 2 accounts so.....

These new drivers are a nightmare for my TI4200, bugs with trails that disappear, screens of billboards are transparent, and flickering is very bad. Bouuuuh beurk, forget them

Here are a couple of pointers that may help:
-Make sure you have the latest motherboard drivers with your agp 4x problem. -Sun occlusion is a clickable option in the game options window for ships, that may or may not help you if you click it, goto game, then unclick and click again. -delete your player cache, been known to work wonders (may mess with bookmark folders so be careful, dunno what to delete but others can help in help channel). -Make sure you have Directx 9.0b or the latest directx, that helps the most. I had some graphical issues that were fixed by this. Hope this helps :)

The texture flickering got solved for me with putting 32 bit z buffer and 8 bit stencil and with putting multisampling on. ______________________ I am just a crazy cow |

oh btw, these new drivers didn't fix the texture flicker issue
i'll try cranking the z-buffer to 32bit and all that stuff since it relates to that - might help _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

well, yeah, i did all those things long ago, still nothing
i'm starting to think there is something just plain wrong with 4x agp on my mobo, or the drivers, because rivatuner has a 'hotfix' that enables it.. naturally it wont even let you select 4x even though it's supposed to support it.
clearing cache and all that doesn't really do anything for this problem, niether does sun occlusion since i've had it with my geforce 4 mx 440 (and that doesn't support sun occlusion, a DX8+ feature)
and I do have the latest directx
is there no hope? _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |
