Who cares? They have to last for 4 years versus the already graphically-superior PCs of win TBH, PC's already looked better when the x-box 360 was released ---

Edited by: Kibbler on 29/09/2007 19:46:38 PS3 is terrible to develop on. I'm a game developer and PS3 is hell. XBOX360, everything works just fine.
There is a reason we all call it the POS3. It's garbage.
EDIT: Everything looks better, and looks better with less work, on a 360.

Ok, let me put it this way. It's hell to develop for, but for those masochistic enough (in the first place), and focusing on PS3 optimization (full feature set usage, without regards towards having their game run on other consoles or even a PC), the graphical results can be... stunning is not enough of a word for it. _

Explain why you call it POS3 ( **** of **** 3? ).. If its that ****, how come the 2 games ive mentioned, plus Drake: unChartered, Warhawk etc.. look so good.
Surely it cant be that hard to develop for? I watch this video.. 2 programmers and an artist took a just over a week to build this.

The short answer is: better hardware, so potentially better graphics. But as yet little dedicated development for it means theres nothing really showing it's full potential. ------

same happened when PS2 was released. the games only pulled the best out of it pretty much like 1 year or more after the PS2 release. ---

My ps2 was a glorified dvd player, and the PS3 is a glorified Blu ray player!(or it will be if i ever get one) how ironic.... (its not really ironic.. but still).
Also, can someone give me a reason to buy one, i don't see the appeal.. and 400 quid is a lot of money.... -------------------------------------------- Stay away from my signature all of ya!!! IM WARNING YOU!!

Shame the Euro ones couldn't pull off 60Hz properly (every other console can do 60Hz on my telly - my PS2 can't).

oh? I have 60hz PAL games with me. they work nicely. but it's true, most PAL games don't have the 60hz option. ---

This has been hashed over and over really in all sorts of websites already, but probably harder to find as searching for the topics gets diluted. I did look up professional and amateur sites comparing the two before I upgraded from an Xbox to the 360.
Essentially, the PS3 and the 360 are about the same in performance. Both of their hardware and internals are different, but they are different in many aspects. The 360 have a triple core processor and the ps3 uses "cells" of which there are 2 extra because Sony expects one to not even work.
The Xbox 360 though will probably put out betetr games becuase of the profit motive. While the ps2 has a far larger base that may not be the case with the ps3 because of its price. And the 360 is using directx 9 (or some other pc standard), so the games can be programmed easier and ported easier to and from a pc. So in theory of course, a studio could spend more time on a both a console and pc game with the same amount of money. So in the end, whatever system put out better games will come down to the family of game producers behind each console.
I don't know how the sony does online games, but I can't imagine anything more simple to use than Xbox's LIVE.

Yeah, but it's more picky about which telly to work on. My 360 - 60Hz is fine My Wii - 60Hz is fine My Dreamcast - 60Hz is just fan dabby dozy
My PS2 - Grayscale image. Same telly, same connections... but the PS2's 60Hz refuses to work properly.
