Is it wise to mine in 0.0 with a cruiser? i have only been playing for 3 weeks and my gunnery skills are not great also i was thinking of loading it up with Miner 1/2's is this wise. is the best policy to run if anyone turns up?
any advise would be helpful as i have never been to 0.0 but hear thats where you need to go to get those rare minerals to make a lot of isk!

Hi,
Well 0.0 is a dangerous place mate. If you dont mind loosing a ship then go for it. But with ur limited gunnery skills i wouldn't risk it. U would have to ninja mine in the belt, ie when rats come run like crazy cos they will kill you without a problem.
Before you do any of that though you will have to find a belt to mine that isn't in alliance controlled space as u will be killed instantly if u stray into curse for example. If you do find a belt to mine then you are not just dealing with the npc rats you can be killed and podded by player pkers, so its best to find a quite place with no people in which is hard.
The alliance i am in have found a system to mine zyd in but we still have problems. We were there mining happly for most of the day then bam we are just packing up and all hell breaks loose in the system. First i jump in me hualer into the blet and 7 rats spawn so i jump out but one of our thorax guys ctd'd and gets podded by the npcs, (so if u ctd in 0.0 in a thorax in a belt then be prepared to log back on in a pod ).
And on the last hual i am doing i jump through the bloody gate and all hell has broken out with missiles and lasers going off all over the place and someone is trying to target and web jam me but i managed to get out of it thank god and survived.
But you may enjoy all that kind of stuff, like trying to get past gate campers and then taking on the belt rats, if so go for it you may have great fun.

Mining in a Thorax on your own in 0.0?
I wouldn't recommend it!

You would be better off using a Vexor. A Vexor has a lot more cargo space than a Thorax.
If someone shows up at your belt, then definately run.
I guess the big question is how do you plan on getting the ore back to the station for refining? Are you going to fly your mining ship or are you going to have an indy nearby for the trip?

 just keep your hand on the mouse and don't take any bath room breaks unless your at a moon, they like to respawn the sec u flush. , but if u can find a large belt with rocks atleast 150km apart just mine at one end if they spawn just fly to the other end and start again, after they respawn again fly back to your other can. U can us the same thing to pick up your stuff with a indy.
or just join a corp and let them help

Theres two main ways to got at the moment, however, I aggree with what has been said regarding your thorax. These are a great mining cruiser in safer space. However, they are slow to warp an this makes them susecptable to npc's in 0.0.
1. Mine using indy with 1 miner 2 and sheild booster and em and exp or your choice of sheild hardeners, at least 2 warp stabs and then what ever you want on the last med and low spots. Your indy should have capacity for 9600 so you can carry 600 stot which is 3 refines but its only 2 of crok with a bit left over.
2. Mine as I do with any frigate that can run 2 miner 2's I use a vigil as it is very fast to warp. Have an indy at a safe point and just change ships to pick up ore. Your first trip out should be indy with shuttle and secure giant container (dont forget anchoring skill). To pick up your frigate I like to exit ship and self destruct myself to get back to home system quickly ( renew clone) pick up frigate set up and head out.
I have taking thorax out to 0.0 when I was starting, I had that ship for 20 hrs npc's got me.
Your only problem is getting in and out through the pc pirate bottle necks. You will loose ships and ore and minerals but you will get some home.

if you know how to .
its called ninja mining .
your gunnery skills wont matter , even a lone battleship
mining should not stay and fight belt rats in 0.0
