As some of you are aware, mission "payout" is determined based on average mission completion times, in some arcane way.
I say "arcane way", because CCP never disclosed the actual algorythm behind it.
I have no idea if only successful mission completion times are taken into account, wether failed/expired missions count at all or not and how much exactly and so on and so forth.
For any new missions (or changed missions), the base payout (re)starts from basically next to nothing, and slowly increases as more and more people run those missions, slowly converging to a value that we all came to accept as "appropriate".
But the newest issue with all of this is, obviously, the introduction of the new "gang completion" option AND at the same time of the L5 missions.
So what's the problem, you say ?
Well, APPARENTLY (I'm not saying it's true/certain, I'm just saying it seems to be so), whenever you complete the mission in a gang, the system DOES NOT take into account the fact you complete the mission much faster this way normally, and hence, the "base payouts" for those missions that are usually run in gangs start dropping... or worse, in the case of L5 missions, never reach appropriate levels.
The general consensus seems to be that "L5 missions suck", and one of the main causes of uproar is the pathetic ISK/LP reward for a lowsec agent. Now, I'm wondering, could it be that it's simply the "gang completion" issue's fault and nothing else ?
Well, not that I wouldn't trust the devs or anything, but... well... in this specific case, it looks like they screwed it up a bit... either a genuine bug, or simply lack of foresight, not my place to assume either one.
Of course, I might be wrong (and I'm quite tired and hyped up on coffee at the moment so I might be missing some critical viewpoints in my argument), but I'm usually not.
So... back to the drawingboard with the gang completion / dynamic reward system ?
Eh, what say you people ? Aye or nay ?

I agree that gang completion isn't helping L5s. Probably wasn't considered when CCP created L5 missions.
Other things are not helping L5 but that can be discussed in another topic.
