I am currently with Tiscali and cannot connect to EVE from 16:00 until 23:00 ish. From trawling through the forum this is a well known problem. Have CCP contacted Tiscali about this and asked why they block the ports or whatever they do to stop us playing? Is EVE really that bandwidth intensive that they have to limit my access? i have been in contact with Tiscali and get the usual gibberish about flushing out my cache bla bla. I'm already to change ISP but if you would be willing to fight our corner i would hold out, as other than this the service is ok (ish). I have tried to explain this to Tiscali but as i have said they really dont give a dam............So i just wondered if CCP did? if its a "Sorry cant help you" thats fine, as long as i know then i can change ISP knowing i asked as much as i could. I'm not the only EVE player in this situation, maybe some replies will show the scale of this situation.
Regards

I've grown really tired of this the "sticky" thread regarding this has been going some time now and hasn't had any real CCP input with any information regarding resolving the issue with Tisacali... At least let us know that CCP arn't in comms with Tisclai so we know to move rather than hold on like i've been for the last 2 months. |

hello im having issues with tiscali also sent them a email with ping plot traces etc only to be sent the standard email telling me to clear my browser settings. but i hope to have more luck with the forums for my tec answers, i did a traffic trace last night connected to eve and ts for 4 hours of normal ops and this only created 30 mb i think the main issue is the traffic shaping software they are using thats classing the udp ports eve uses as p2p and F**king us over, i am putting the question to them atm about if i do not breach the FUP because i dont use much traffic why are the in effect doing a denial of service to me and not providing the service i pay for not holding much hope but it can either go one of two ways they allow the ip and udp port 26000 for eve or allow mw to cancel my contract without the penalty of having to pay the remainder of the 12 month i have left
devs advice on this would be helpful or lets us know if you have had no luck with them either or if ccp have a prefered isp

I'm wondering if this is happening because the server is unsharded. Prehaps they would like to throttle all MMOs, but becuase of the different server IPs they cant. Is Eve an easy target because it's on one single server?
I am a tiscali 2Mb DSL subscriber and I have had intermittent problems getting onto eve, sometimes for hours at a time. Vent works fine during these outages, as does any website. The last time it happened it actually kicked me off the game and wouldnt let me connect for about 5 hours. This only happens to me every few weeks though. From past experience, Tiscali WILL fix problems IF you can get to talk to someone from their UK based engineers. The problem is they employ a horde of talking heads in Delhi who just read you a script until you go away (Not to bash indian tech support people- netgear's are excellent). The last time I called them they suggested turning off all firewalls and virus protection, which sounded nice and safe

Edited by: Wild Rho on 01/10/2007 20:47:34 Read the sticky at the top. This has been a problem for some time (but seems to be getting worse over time) and CCP are aware of it. But in the end the plain truth is there is not a lot they can do about it.

Indeed, and the problem seems to have massively escalated. I didnt have connection problems like this before a few days ago, I'm based in London.
Now they have decided to block 26000 during the hours when most people would want to play EvE in the UK.
Its not just Tiscali - it applies to Eclipse too and other UK ISP's who are owned by Tiscali (there are a lot).
Its all very well saying 'change provider' but its not always that easy if you are locked into a 12 month contract or (in my case) your landlord chooses the provider for you.

I'm American so I'm not familiar with Euro ISP providers and practices but you should all mail the ISP and tell them you won't be renewing your contract and take your business elsewhere. If my ISP started blocking ports like that I'd throw a fit. You pay for your internets so make sure you get your internets :)

So far it hasn't affected Bulldog, Tiscali's latest aquisition.

So tiscali lose another customer. I always wonder how many people just quit Eve too, they don't bother posting on the forums as nothing seemed to be getting done, and they don't even go down the route of finding another ISP, they may not even have known it was the ISP doing the damage and blamed Eve.

Well i've been with adsl24 for a few days now and i can log onto eve whenever i want. its a shame that this situation continues. i have posted a few times about this without a Dev replying so it would appear that moving ISP is the only solution. i hope you all get sorted soon as it really is a pain in the backside.
Good luck
