Would someone explain HOW' anchoring containers work? I Asked someone to achor for me they mention something about they lose lotted space, whatever that means. I'm trying to mine and getting sick of warping back to station.
Is this a normal method of mining for players that dont have huge ships?

For very young players they might work. A Giant Secure Container holds 3,900m3 and a T1 hauler can generally hold 4. However, they are a pain to setup and take down (Anchoring and Unanchoring takes 60 seconds).
The other thing is.. if you are mining in a barge, you mine 3,900m3 every few minutes. So, no... it is not a "normal" method.
Most people work as a team with haulers or their second / third / fourth accounts. They get to a belt and jettison a normal can (which holds 28km3) and then the hauler goes back and forth emptying that one can.
Don't litter the system with Giant Secures. ------------------------------------------------ Anyone got a good compression tool for EVE sigs? |

1. Get a mate in a hauler (its called an MMO for a reason ^^ )
or
2. Join a corp, there will usually be someone willing to haul for a cut of the minerals mined 5%-10% is usually fair.
failing that
3. Get a second account open second client and get it to haul for you. Im NOT recommending this: but I suppose you could just haul on a trial account.
finally
4. Train industrial, get a mining laser (tech 2 pref) stick aload of cargo expanders on, then start mining, find another hobby while you do this beacause filling up the cargo hold will literally take hours.

I understand I just learned all skills to use mining barge now I need to make enough to buy it. Theirs a difference in anchoring and jettson a can, yea I think I got it. I'm a paper view player :)
Joining a corp, well, I havn't found one I like yet. I prefer the CEO has atleast one year xp with EVE and his/her officers but then why would they want me, right and I her a lot about Corps making slaves out of rooks, not with my credit card!

When i had my little mining operation in *cough* mahamhahmhm *cough*, i used to set up around 10 secure cans around a belt, at nice intervals, fill them up one by one, dock, haul stuff in, and at the end of said "operation", collect cans. If i awsn't coming back in say, the next 12 hours.
Nice, clean, effective(enough).
My opinions represent the opinions of my corporation completely. I'm the CEO damnit. |
