Installed the game last night, what should be the first ship I save up for?
At this point I want to do a little of everything, is there a all around newbie ship I should save up for?

Look for the frigate with the biggest cargo capacity for your race. That is probably the one you want. Easier to mine that way. Think of it as a minivan or pickup truck.

if u are gallente go for the Imicus. It has a large cargo capacity so it makes mining and hauling easier.
Early on join a corp to get going fast and get free stuff and help with protection while minine or hauling etc.
Or do what I did, AFK (away from keyboard) mining. Helps while you are at work, sleep, school, etc. Train for a Bestower which is Amar indi level 1. should take you 1.5 days if I remember. With regular market available cargo exapnders and if you train indi level to 2 or 3 you will have a capacity of 10,000 m3. So mount a mining laser and let it mine all night or all day. When you come back, you will have a full load of ore! Bring it back to base and sell it.
Of course only do this if you are in a level 1.0. .9, or maybe .8 system for safety reasons. Do not refine it yourself unless you have very good refine skills (refine 5, refine efficiency 5), just sell the ore. You will make 250-400k isk per load.
When you are online, you can use your Imicus or other ship to mine and jettison into a can. When the can is full, go get your Bestower and haul back to base. Mining is the easiest way to make money at first.
Then come out to Deep Space with us where a Bestower full of Ark will fetch many millions per haul. Of course it is a tad more risky out here.....

Just go for a really fast ship, and start training, navigation, afterburner and high speed manuevering and do agent missions.

Since it seems you are Minmatar go for the Probe. Best frigate miner/cargorunner imo. I'm Gallente and even I bypassed the Imicus going straight for the Probe, buying the apropriate skill. Have fun!

Vigil is another minmatar lv 2 frigate and its what i used when i first started. It is good for mining (can fit 2 mining lasers and 2 basic mining drones) and also super fast for agent missions. I still use mine to nip about in

Sabbak, my advice is twofold. First you must optimise the mining output you get.
This is done by getting a frigate that can hold 2 Miner 2's, this would be the Vigil.
Now you mine at 50% of the speed of a Cruiser.
Next you need an Industrial. The fastest one to train to is the Bestower, you can have it in 24 hours. And its the 3rd best indutrial in the game, cargo size and speed wise.
Its an Amarr Industrial though.
Now, when you have both, use your frigate to mine with, jettison your ores to a container next to you. Then when the container is full, get your industrial and move it to station.

just get a rifter and fight npc's, they make you pretty decent money. Then since you're minmatar you must become a pirate in no more than 2 months time so train up those projectile skills to use 1400 guns on a tempest to gank people at gates.
