Is their going to be models for missile launchers or are they going to still be invisible firing from the middle of the ships?

Edited by: Gane Green on 01/10/2007 21:52:23 If what you are saying that adding missile modles to ships would add to lagg and kill nodes. Then what would you think of ccp getting rid of projectile modles and hybrid turret modles to decrease lagg? If god was a number he would be over 9000!!!!!!!!! |

as much as I loath missiles, I want these too! also, make missile models bigger, and tweak the impact animations and effects so it is less generic and doesnt always hit midship!

Missile launchers are already visible on most missile craft if you look in the right place (right-click/left-click zooming may be required.) They aren't mobile turrets, but bays in the body of the ship whose exit port can be seen in the ship's hull.

One of the advantages of launcher models is that you will be able to see what your opponent is fitting. I know I almost always, provided I have time or a means to get close enough, check to see what kind of guns the other guy is running. Dominix with no guns on it? Cap killer. Apoc with no guns? Smartbomber. Mega with blasters? Keep your distance. Is that 'Pest running autos or arties?
Wouldn't it be nice to see if that Raven were running cruises or torps? Or whether the Crow was fitted with standard missiles or rockets?
The models are not loaded in your client until you choose "Look At," so I see this as a moot point for the slowdown/node crash argument.
