Alright, I havnt done this for a long time, what types of pirates should I be looking for in a well outfitted Moa? Im armed with 4 250mm Rails, dual missile launchers with Thunderbolts, and a myriad of base technologies to boost cap and shield....
What group of pirates would be best for me to hunt? in what area? what should I run away from? potential rewards? and how much should I expect to make in a few hours of NPC popping?

Just don't try gurista's with that setup, unless you are really skilled with defenders. (npc missles move so fast that unless you have defender 4 or 5 your missles will never turn fast enough to hit any of them)
Other than that you should be able to clear out any .3 or above unless you just don't have very good skills. I also recommend 2 warp core stabs if you can do it. Because nasty things tend to happen in belts. Like accidentally letting the npc's get within 1.5 km of you, or dropping...its nice to always have a way out.

i would suggest a smartbomb. most npc cruisers ive seen shoot some form of missles.. guristas are very dangerous. i would suggest fountain,yz-lql has alot of good belts to hunt. CARRY A CORE STAB
When I was a kid my favorite relative was Uncle Caveman. After school we'd all go play in his cave, and every once in a while he would eat one of us. It wasn't until later that I found out that Uncle Caveman was a bear. -jack handy |

go into some gallente space, no missiles there. one which i used to npc in was seyllin, a lot of frigs and the occasional cruiser. Mimiru > It'd be a tie, the monkies nerfed pooflinger wouldnt have enough tracking to hit the parrot orbiting him, but the parrot's beak is so small it couldnt break the monkey's fur tanking. |

It is possible in a cruiser to hunt alone in a 0,0. I killed several 85k alone in my rupture. However a mwd is essential then.
In a moa you should be able to have some challenging fights in 0,1. Up to 40k rats and some nice loot as reward.
Remember to always keep an eye on the local because PC pirates can be more nasty than NPC pirates

Actually serpentis cruisers do many shoot missiles from their uber modified Vexors and Thoraxes.

Bloods are really the enemy to kill with a moa, stay as far away from guristas as you can, the missles spaming by the upper tier NPCs will eat you alive ____________________________

Gallente space is the best, as someone mentioned above cuz no rats use missiles. if you keep your distance, it's easy money; but be warned, if they gain on u, 40k+ rats will scramble u, and heavy blaster u to hell. i lost a moa like this cuz i didnt fit it with an mwd so just keep a 20+km distance and u cool. Amarr space is pretty good as well (where im at right now), as only an odd few rats fire missiles. im actually doin great with my Kestrel from 40km away launchin heavies , takin on 10k-45k rats easily ('cept for the ones that launch missiles.i run from those.)

i agree w/ your mwd point -- it's essential if u killin 30k+ rats... but if properly outfitted, moa's can take on 85k's with ease.. i mean if u did it in a rupture. moa is actually a little stronger (1200 base shield) than a rupture, albeit a little slower. ive taken out an 85k with a 4x720 an h-50 and m-12 setup..
and, dont b too afraid of 0.0 NPC-wise..if there r no pilots in a system (check map), dont b scared of the rat npcs

well, i think the rupture rocks the moa because of the projectiles. never had any trouble with a rupture when facing 85k rats with minions (5-6 35k's) because all cap goes to shields. rupture is also a faster ship, so u won't need ab. all in all the extra shield the moa got loses to the cap the hybrid turrets drain...

I'll second that, Ruptures are nice for clearing out belts. But got stuck on a rock recently, rats closed to under 1000M and stripped all my armour before my drones got rid of them. 720s at 1000M = FAIL
Ouch...

I have had no problems at all taking on up to 85k rats in my Moa. And I only use 3x250mm Compressed Coil Is for doing so. Moa's got 5% bonus to range with each lvl of skill, that combined with sharpshooting skill alone makes it easy to kill rats at 61km with Iron ammo if I want to, but usually I go with Iridium ammo at 46km range. Moa is the best cruiser for range imo, and range saves your life

Come to Balle its a 0.4 system with plenty of frig serps and the odd cruiser and u can also sell yr loot at the station for some nice prices... there is some V.crap buy order for minerals so i think if u did npc hunt here its best to either sell the mods or refine yrself and move em...

LOL what a patronising post, "Well in my uber rupture i can hunt alone in 0.0 against 85k rats"
"but in your measly Moa you can maby hunt in 0.1"
Dude any experienced pilot would pawn you rupture in a moa...

just what i was about to say. moa is the most balanced cruiser in the game, believe it or not. the trick with the 720's is staying within optimum range, depending on your ammo. if u can do that, u'll dish out 200-600 damage per volley... and if u got 2 h-50's, ure set
