I've named a few ships from the R-type games such as "Sunday Strike", "Warhead" and "Tears shower" although I have various other names my gallente shuttle is called "My other rides a Nyx" and my salvage dessy is called the "Womble mobile".
Edit just saw that link to the culture ship names "Trade Surplus" sounds like an awesome name for an indy splitting ship.

Well, since I'm Gallente, most of my ships have names that would get caught in the forum filters. But my current favorite is my Thorax, the "Tallywhacker"

I like to pick random names off People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" list, whatever will fit. Boy band member names work very well too, and other manly men. In the front is always "♥♂ USS". Currently I regularly find myself inside:

I have alot of ship names, and ships. but my favorite Ship name is Thunderous, which was given to my Vengeance, she lives up to her name too, them rockets really turn battles into thunder.

I like to prefix my ships with "Stargate (*namehere*)".
The namehere usually consists of something spelt in 'leet', or a made up system name.
It can give you that split second to get away when someone calls out the primary as the stargate, or when newbies get that message " Are you sure you want to attack 'Stargate (whatever)'?

I once named my Raven as "Fearless" from Honor Harrington novel. It was immediately attacked by ebil pirates in nearby asteroid field and destroyed. Never tried again names from Honorverse.

After my Drake three times narrowly escaped death with less than 10% in structure, I named it "Old Reliable" I think the reason Drake is so heavy in mass is that it has a couple hudreds of horseshooes scattered in its cargobay.
But my Blackbird is called "Ia ECMko" - something only russian pilots will understand :)

My ships always used to be named after real warships, Hood, Illustrious, Ark Royal, Graf Spee etc
Now I just rename them to something simple so it removes the "Plave Okice's" part from it, in my current hangar I think I have "Ranis", "Pwntar", "Pwnkur", "Onei", "Eos", "Start", "Mos" and the odd one out "Don't believe the".
No prizes for guessing what each one is
