Am away on client-site for a week and dying of boredom - I have no access to eve other than through the forums, and it makes you realise how good eve really is, and just how much of your life it takes up (If only somebody could develop eve into a thin-client solution so that you could play anywhere/on any PC with an internet connection)
WTFPWN'ing CFS/FA and any other n00bs has become such a habit you can forget what you did with your time when PC's were not about. I now find TV mind-numbingly dull, watching endless reality TV crap being pumped out by ITV/Ch 5. Not having access to my PC and thus Eve for the last week, i have re-discovered TV, where the only interactivity comes from text messaging Ant & Dec to "VOTE FAT BIRD" for whatever currently is flavour of the month with tabloids and 12 year old girls

I've said it before, I'll say it again - I'm sooo 'lucky' you have a 6 year old Dell at work. I tried to get my hands on one of those rinky dinky Vaios but thought better of it. I wouldn't mind but my 22" monitor faces away from everyone...
By the way Skokeh, couldn't agree more about the TV especially as we are, in the UK. Apparently watching such dross makes you stand out as a normal, intelligent human being doing normal socially accepatable/interactive things.

Imagine a Reality TV show where all the occupants of da house played Eve.
2 miners, 2 alliance pvp'ers, 2 pirates, 2 traders.
We get to vote out the one who annoys use the most!

hehe - I have an advantage in that there is only me and Oonan in my Corp. And we work together in real life. So instead of working we spend our time discussing what our next steps will be etc.
And we hold our board meetings in the pub across the road. God knows what people think of us having in depth conversations about a computer game as we get steadily more hammered. ---------------------------------------------

And here we all are w***ing the forums during our lunch time. Funny. Right, I'm off for a cigarette. After that I have an online ad campaign analysis to do and the NAGA Newsletter. Guess which one is the priority?

Edited by: Skokeh on 19/02/2004 15:07:32 Eve Flat TV Show would have made this week 100 times better - I would tune in every day just to see one of the traders gets thrown out of the House for trying to decpaitate one of the pirates who just Gank'd his shiny Apocolypse
PS - "edited it to make it less ranting -Eris Discordia" Yes it was a rant, but im sure the only bit you cut was about the ****

So good to hear that other people are having the same addiction problems!
I struggle to get to work on time because I've been up till 1 or 2am playing (like now), I spend more time in my corp forum and alliance forum than I do doing any meaningful work when I get there, I spend half my time writing word doc's about Eve stuff so I can sneak onto the forum and post it but it doesn't look like I've got IE open all day, I try to finish as early as possible to get home and log on immediately and the frequency of me 'working from home' has increased significantly over recent months!
My brother and I are both Directors in the same corp but I live in Canada atm and he's back home in the UK, our two companies must have enormous international phone bills because we speak daily about Eve... I know he's home and logged on by 1pm my time so I can ring him and find out what's going on in game!
Hehehe.... crazy crazy game!

I totally agree with you guys. I'm in college for another year studying biology, but i cant seem to concentrate when im in class. All i think about is corp structure, what my next plan of attack should be and who to promote to director. Ahhh i cant take it, i sit in the library during my off hours between classes and surf the forums while im studying. Talk about pathetic. Then on the weekends its, eve all day and night til sunday.

I've had more *cough* sick days over the last year than in the previous ten. I justify them to myself by calling them "mental health" days. Eve is a lovely physician! ____________________ Keep your hands on your isk and your eyes on your six

OK - Lets not go off topic here....
Yeh, eve does rule and the PvP is as good as any online game i played, but one of the main points for this post was to say that Back to Reality and any other crap involving Rather Large Women (seems to be a new trend...) being fat on TV, or in the album charts, should all fkrightoff ASAP
Lets be honest, she is no-body's idol..

I sold my TV a while back so not sure what's on uk TV atm, I think it has always sucked and always will.
Eve is a malign addiction, I did get bored of it after beeing off eve for 2 weeks, but now I have regained my lust for her ;)
It's no too hard to see why it has such an effect on us. We require a challenging, interesting life. We want what RL cannot give us, the ability to do as we will and go where we want plus more besides
Eve is a world without restriction....well, less restrictions than RL :)
If I could do in life what I could do in eve, I wouldn't be here, I don't think many others would too.
Eve isn't perfect, but for ú10 a month, it's pretty damn good

I posted this a while back I do more EVE work, surfing for EVE, making deals at work then I do work its horrible and I can't stop. It is really bad.
Even when I went on leave of absence from EVE thinkin I wasn't coming back I still surfed the forums and such to see what was going on but like 90% then what I do right now.
Wonder whats in the programing that makes this so addicting hehe. Fear The Bunny

Someone wanted a "thin" client version of Eve, well its kinda possible. I do it and get through my corp firewall fine so you can still get your dose without getting caught.
1 Take one broadband connection at home (static Ip prefered by dhcp ok) 2 Mix with a large portion of VNC server at home (Term Serv dont support direct x) 3 Read VNC docs, stiring in with a dose of "Changing ports" in them. 5 Simmer gently with DynDNS.org 6 Take VNC client to work, grab a cup of hot coffee/tea/cola and connect using VNC client (remember to specify ports!) 7 Savour the taste of a good enough for AFK mining meal at work ;-)
Work v Eve? Nah they CAN be complimentary :-)
