Seriously, friend tanking needs to be nerfed. I go out in my faction fitted battleship to track down an an opponent 3 times smaller than me, target them with my t2 guns and what happens? 3 other ships warp in, has me damped, scrambled, and neutralized, then blew me up. How unfair is that? Seriously, I spent all weekend drawing up charts showing, on paper, that EVE players with friends deal upwards of 2000 more DPS than other players. You can't counter this. If you don't friend tank like them, you have no chance. And it's pretty much based on what bloodline you choose. If you happened to roll, complete ******** asshat, you're screwed, because you'll never be able to friend-tank because everyone will know what a mendacious ****hole you are.
Comon CCP get on the ball on this one, this is worse than the skill-tanking rant I complained about before. You buy a 2 billion isk ebayed character and ship, crawl in your mothership and start popping newbie pods and shuttles, then what happens? A well-coordinated pack of highlies comes and blasts you to bit. First of all, this has to be an exploit since we all know how invincible motherships are. It says right there on the EVE forums, which may i remind you, belongs to CCP and so implied as a corporate endorsement, that motherships are invincible in low-sec, so first off these people should all be banned. Second of all, wtf, how can it be fair when this skill-tank totally trumps my money-tank? I spent hundreds of my parents dollars buying internet spaceships i never worked for, and this is what I get? Lets use a real-life scenario... Situation: any Money-tank: win. How can CCP claim eve is a 'realistic' space MMORPG when it shows such complete disregard for real world economics? Totally unfair.
If CCP does not fix this immediately I will take my 952 accounts and delete them all. I'd rather play WoW than put up with this crap.

I am interested in this form of tanking and would like to subscribe to its newsletter.
A few questions, though: Compared to shuttles, how well does a friend tank? Assume no fittings on the friend for easier comparison.
And does using the Correct Friend have any impact, or are all friends equally powerful in all regions?

Friends with Missile skills, irrespective of thier shield skills, wont work in 0.0 cause everyone knows missiles suck in pvp.

omi man, ill yell at you later for making a nerf thread in AW. But that is eve man, always a gank waiting for those who dont see it comming, just got to learn the signs and be aware of the possibilitys and learn how to avoid/counter ganks and *friend tanking*. and yes its fully possible for one guy to kill guys that do such things, convo zeroh and ask about his nano mach lol.
omi you should know who your attacking and who could be his/her (99.9% his in eve) possible back up at all times, and always have a back up plan should things go wrong. Besides how do you suppose nerfing such a thing?

The current imbalances are so steep that I had no choice but to make extensive calculations and create highly accurate charts which prove that money-tanking needs to be boosted and friend-tanking needs to be nerfed. I had to use very complicated mathematical formulas which on paper are absolutely perfect. I do not want to cancel my accounts, but I will if this is not dealt with.
Chart - Unfair Situation
First, let's look at the current situation. At first it makes sense - if you have no money, a money-tank doesn't work well, but when you have lots of money, it works very well. But see what happens? The out of control friend-tank quickly becomes way too strong and you can't counter it. This also happens with the skill-tank! The honor-tank is also underpowered - no matter how much you do it, there are no increase. Extensive testing has confirmed that shuttles do not tank well.
Chart - Unfair Situation - Station Tanking
Before I continue, I should point out another imbalance: station-tanking. Any player with no money at all can dock at a station and tank even a mothership! The effectiveness of a station-tank can go well over 9000! It is unfair for anyone to be able to station-tank so easily. The best solution for this is to charge a 100M isk docking fee for all stations. That way it is more balanced for players who can afford to station-tank.
Pie Chart - Money & Size
It is much more expensive to money-tank than to friend-tank. Notice how the above friend-tanker has spent much less on ships and equipment than my officer fitted supership. Since the money-tanker spends more money, he should win. Furthermore, note how much larger very expensive ships are. Because bigger ships are better, they should always beat smaller ships - it makes more sense that way!
Charts - Honor
As you might expect, it is very honorable to honor-tank. It ia also very honorable to money-tank: remember, buying all that isk fed many isk farmers! By comparison it is very honorable to skill-tank or shuttle-tank, because it is unfair. It is also very dishonorable to station-tank (it would be more honorable if it costed 100M isk to dock). Friend-tanking is of course very dishonorable, as you can see in the above charts. For RL comparison, I have added a chart which compares the various modes of tanking to two common RL situations: Saving orphans from a burning building and eating babies. It is very honorable to save orphans, quite similar to money-tanking. Ont he other hand, baby eating is very bad - only friend-tankers are worse than baby eaters.
Chart - CCP Revenue
Not to brag, but because I also have 952 accounts, I represent an important revenue source for CCP. If the current imbalances are not addressed, I too will be forced to cancel them, thus bankrupting CCP and destroying Friend-Tanker Online.
Chart - Ideal Scenario
In this hypothetical chart, I have balanced everything to be fair. I think this situation works well for everyone. Honor-tanking gets a big boost of course. I even balanced those cheating friend-tankers and skill-tankers. I left shuttle-tanks the way they are because shuttles are still unfair - did you know that you can assign a templar (an amarr fighter) to a shuttle!? We don't need to mess with station-tanking much - it is pretty balanced with a 100M isk hourly docking fee so I didn't bother showing it. The bottom line: More money = better nanomachines = better tanking.
These charts clearly show the need for change. If CCP implements these changes in the next patch, things will be much better. Trust me. I guarantee it.
