Hello all, I have just gotten a new ship named the hawk and was wondering if i could get some help on fitting it for pvp. My current set up is high slots: 4x standard launchers Med slots 1x em resist amp tech 2, small shield booster tech 2,warp disruptor and one tech 2 invulnerability field. Low slots: 1 cpu enhancer and 1 pds tech 2 If you have any comments don't be afraid to post : ) thank you :))) dakidisill

TBH hawk is a really bad ship, and you really won't be able to beat anything in this except t1 frigs. It can work okay as a frig killer with tech2 missiles... but still does worse than cruiser DPS and has a pathetic tank.

thb all assault frigs are worse, except the ishkur maybe. They are truly easy targets and in fleet ops it tackles badly.
Train for Ceptor i say.

Indeed. The introduction of new BCs and their subsequent popularity was the death knell for AF pvp. I advise steering clear of them altogether. |

When AF came out, cruisers pwned them in every way. Speed, damage, tank, price. And they still do to this day. BC have absolutely nothing in any respect to do with AF suckage. _________________________________________________ Breetime

Player skill is usually more important than statistics. Well flown AFs can to an extent compete with cruisers however they stand little to no chance against even poorly piloted BCs which few serious players flew prior to the introduction of tier 2.
I'm going to have to call your competence into question if you seriously believe that the introduction of tier 2 BCs had no effect on AF pvp. |

well flown AF cannot compete with any decent cruiser. period. Its like 50% shield left on a armortanking cruiser vs 0% hp left on a AF.
It has nothing to do with BC. If you flew AF before tier 2 BC were introduced, you will fly em after. Cause instead of nearly every ship being able to kill you, you now have nearly every ship in the game being able to kill you.

I'll post the Hawk setup I used before I skilled for a Manticore (which I tend to prefer now) and stear clear of the AF vs Cruiser discussion.
High: 4 x Limos
Mid: Named MWD Named EM Amp Sensor Booster T2 Small Shield Booster T2
Low; Ballistic Control II Power Diagnostic II
Rigs: 2 x Bayloaders
It's really tight on CPU, and you have to pulse the MWD else your cap dies. That said it does have it's place in small frig gangs along with Inties and some Stealth Bombers.
Another setup used by some mostly at gatecamps include T2 Rockets and Signal Amp II + Sensor Booster II to speed up lock time on the pods . Rumoured to be very handy since T2 Rockets+Bayloader Rigs+BCU should give you under 2seconds r.o.f, but I haven't tested it.

Switch on your booster and you can run it indefinately, you also get that valuable boost bonus in a hawk. You should be able to run your painter for a minute or so.
Get max assault ships skill and its good fun to fly. Will perma tank frigs, cruisers, and even BS Just sit on a gate and light up the target with your painter and spam with missles. The painter will increase the damage done by all ships in your gang so you'll be increasing the gangs total DPS output by a much larger amount than you could ever deal yourself

K Wanna dmg dealer and speed get harpy The Hawk is for only one role tackle big ships slow ships cause it is a hell of a tank. The best tank setup i came up that u can tank and keep a scrab is this one
4x t2 std launcher 1xCL-5 med shield boost, 2x best named cap boosters(150 charges), 1x20k scrab 1xAuxillary 1x inertia stab or dmg control
rigs 1xEM hard 1xKin Hard
Keep many precision missiles they do excellent dmg to the fast orbiting inties.
With this setup there u can easily tank and scare of 3 inties. Today Before downtime i tanked a vagabond(old pilot) and his drones for over 7-8 minutes till i got him in 40% shield and he had ,luckily, to warp off cause some other guys jumped into the system. Eventually he would have won (maybe hehe) but again the tank was unreall.
The hawk is not for tackling fast ships or for damage -get a harpy for that- The hawk is for maintaining a scrab at bigger slower ships that do dmg and for killing inties or interdict that someone else has webed
Solo u wont get any inties kills cause they will warp off. -U could put a small energy drain(not NOS) cause really thats the only way to really get an inty without webs finish his cap so he cant mwd and warps away but again its difficult. But again to really get an inty with the dmg of the missiles u need 2x webs so u wont get any inty kills solo except if the inty pilot is a complete nublar Also U will lauch with other AF with this setup.
