So,I need to understand something Diplomats are here to deal with questions, requests and other diplomatic things concerning alliances, correct? Then why do alliances name as diplomats people who don't respond to evemail, chat invites and such? I would think you would want someone mature and responsible enough to respond to messages. I don't know.Maybe it is just me.....

Cuz maybe many just dont care to post/update their dips info while beeing buisy with other stuff? easiest wy to get a dip is to meet a large gang of them and to sak the FC for a contact.

it's probably because tons of pubbies, lowlifes, beggars, and other assorted trash annoy them to no end, all day long. no one worth a damn has the time to deal with all that junk.

I don't mean about updating.I am talking about responding to questions about alliance on evemail, accepting chat requests and such Takes 2 minutes to write something like "Please be patient as we respond to your questions" or something

From my perspective it has a lot to do with workload. Not every diplomat's job is going to be that rough just based upon the size or activity level of the entity for which they "work." However, I would hazard to guess that diplomats that work for larger alliances are very busy.
Depending upon how conscientious they are about their job, probably spend the majority of their "playing time" in chats in-game, out of game or on voice comms.
From my own perspective, I often have multiple conversations going at once and there have been times when I've carried them out using all three mediums of communication concurrently.
Notice..I haven't even begun to discuss the deluge of eve-mails that come through daily.
Quit often, the moment I log in, I get convo'd about something.
If days go by between my log-ins because of RL, the problems are compounded. My guess is that it's not that much different for most diplomats in the game.
Yes..there may be some lazy/unless diplomats out there, but I'd be inclined to give people the benefit of the doubt...heheh.

You were just unlucky to pick an alliance where diplomat do not answer fast. Some other alliances have good response time.

This.
I was a corp/alliance diplomat for a while. I was ****ed off that I couldn't get diplomats from larger alliances to get back to me.
Then after we got bigger, I understood. People up your ass all the time about all sorts of ****, and you've got to prioritize. If someone from somewhere you've never heard of is emailing you about something that's not of decent benefit to you, it falls by the wayside.
Then I left that alliance, and now I just shoot stuff.

As a diplo for SA and then Ka-Tet, I have prided myself on always responding to someone within at least 24 hours, 48 hours is the absoulte max I have ever left anyone, unless I have been on holiday that is. I personaly would always respond at least letting people know that I will have to get back to them if I couldn't answer their question directly.
My guess, you picked a bad or lazy alliance diplo. Station Ping Pong |

Even being a small alliance / corp, I can tell you I get lots of convo's and loads of mail. Sometimes the mails are so far out I dont even respond. Make sure when sending eve mails to include as much info as you can and be as clear as possible. Also leave out anything to do with Epeen or your diplo might just /la and slap the delete button.

Its been my experience that alliance diplo's are usually chosen from two distinc groups.
There are the ones who have replied, such as Orree here who are chosen because they are the right person for the job, because, well.... they are diplomatic.
Then theres the other kind who are intenitonally chosen because they are course and arrogant people who will be ruthless when dealing with other diplo's and wont take any crap from folk.
Both kinds have thier advantages and disadvantages in a game like this so i'm not making a judgement on thier styles. Mainly because its not a job i would want hehe
It sounds to me like you have encountered the second kind. Unfortunately these are generally the ones who feel that the majority of people are not worthy of thier time.
Or ofcourse they could just be a lazy ****

Become a diplomat of one of the larger alliances and im sure you will see the answer.
Oree is pretty much on the money, the workload is the big thing and another is that 2/3 of all mails is something thats un-important and you should take that as a no, or its some reject you have never heard of who wants to join your alliance or get blue status somewhere :P ___________________________________________________

Being a diplo, or CEO for that matter, can get tiresome with all the useless convos. I always preferred mail myself. I can handle 10 mails in 10 minutes easily, but one convo takes 10 minutes most of the time.
I've found that when trying to contact other diplos, that being polite and very specific and detailed in what you are requesting usually get the best response. A "hey, we wanna be BFF's, convo me if interested" will almost always get ignored. ![Wink](/images/icon_wink.gif)

a) i doubt you testet that with every alliance that exist. i go as far as to believe your entire experience on that matters narrows down to 1-2 trials/alliances in total.
b) even alliance diplomats go to toilets, feed their children or answer RL phone calls - yes even when theyre logged on. Some of them even dare to be in operations , or other diplomatic chats when you ring the bell.

EVE-Diplos should unite to demand an out-box and folders for the in-box. It's damned annoying having to make notes about who has been responded to and who hasn't.
People who put hate onto diplos for not responding instantly need to relax and understand that for many diplos, especially those in the larger alliances, the game barely exists anymore except as a badly written Outlook sim. If the diplo you are trying to contact doesn't get back to you right away maybe it's because he decided to see what his ship looked like in space instead of in a station for once :)
