I'm not a pirate per say, however I have a question. I was in low sec the other day doing a little ratting in a pretty quiet system. Sitting in my safe spot for bit, I watched on the scanner as hauler after hauler after hauler on autopilot went through the system.
Are there any real options for this situation that doesn't involve me needing to tank the sentry guns? I thought about the Mobile Warp Disruptor, thinking that maybe I could catch them in between gates. However doing some reading it appears that they don't work in low sec. Any other options? If gun tanking is the only way, is a Drake the easiest ship to train that would tank the guns or is there a better ship?

The afk haulers are never worth killing in terms of loot, unless you just wanna help remove the problem of the marco hauler.
A drake would work great, you should be able to take out the haulers and tank the guns no prob in a good setup.

Sniping BS circumvent sentries altogether , but require a hefty SP investment. Indeed , the drake is probably your best bet , other BCs have a hard time permatanking sentries.

First, while one afk hauler may not be worth much, a whole bunch over a day add up.
Second, be CERTAIN you wish to be a -10 red flashy. Pirating is too addictive to not keep doing once you start. 
Third, a drake is a very good start. make sure you have lots and lots of shield and descent resistances. fit a 20km warp disrupter and at least one or two signal amplifiers (low slot sensor boosters).
Finally, while any pirating at all is fun as heck, pirating alone can get boring and be dangerous. Nothing is better than having a friend or alt on the other side of a gate to let you know when a blob of hero's or a juicy target is about to jump through.

Be sure that you can make a distinction between an AFK player's autopiloting hauler(pretty damned rare in low sec and possibly bait) and a chinese farmer's macro hauler.
They do the damned hauling missions and all you can get from those are dolls and electronic parts.

If you hunt in an area infested with macros it gets damn annoying to see 100's of haulers on your scan all the time....

Indeed, kit out a Drake with a 24km scram, HAMs, a good tank, and kill macros/idiots who AFK through lowsec. They deserve it.

mobil warp bubles dont work in low sec, but if you have 0.0 macros, kill them with anything with a gun.

Find the farmers doing gallente courier missions and rescue the exotic dancers. All that's needed is for the pirates to get booty.
I agree I don't have the features to be a holoreel star.
Most people have missed the point that this is Mobsters Online and that carebears are at the bottom of the foodchain. |
