there's your solution... its that easy!
Its allways cheaper to do this than wait for a year doin something you dont like to train your character for something you would like..... and when you do it it will not be nearly good as one sold as focused pvp characters !!
Even if you get few mil sp less than your own toon , or lose some bil isk in process imo its worth doin it if you are serious about your new career as cruel coldblooded razor .
But a tip. If you care about amount of isk in your wallet , ships you have... or if only you wanted to join 0.0 alliances for incursion and ratting in belt... i would stay in High Sec f i were you . |

If you really want to learn to PvP find a lowsec corp - either a Faction Warfare corporation or a pirate corporation - you'll learn far more about ship-to-ship PvP (as suppose to giant capital fights or boring structure shoots).
In lowsec, not having to worry about spies and not having to deal with Sov maintenance means there is a lot less political interference, and a lot more regular fighting.
Every PvP corp that's worth anything will involve a bit of hazing and waiting - you may have to fight alongside the corp you want to join a bit before they'll accept you, but its still possible to get on board if you show that you're serious.
Alliance requirements for fleets are often quite cookie cutter - and you'll learn quickly how to take orders but it will be harder in the long run to learn to think for yourself in a PvP engagement.
Low sec PvP is a bit steeper to get into, because more individual thinking is required out of each pilot in the gang, but the skill level can often exceed that of Alliance pilots who, like I said, are used to reliance on prescribed fits and following strict orders.
So yeah, those are your two options. If an alliance will actually take you, you might have a bit of an easier time since you can become a cog in the machine pretty quickly and might receive more easy-to-learn instruction upfront. But if you seek out PvP training in nullsec - the learning curve will be steeper but you'll turn out a better pilot in the long run - because you'll learn how to fight a much wider variety of ships than you'd find in nullsec.
Experienced low sec FC's know how to use all the ship types that "X up" for a roam - and will most certainly have a place for your caldari training. The main problem with Caldari is that shields don't scale well with massive fleet engagements - once you're at the battleship level armor tanking is the norm. Thus, the alliances won't have much patience for you bringing an off-tank ship to a fleet. However, in lowsec, roaming gangs of frigates, cruisers, and battlecruisers are commonplace, and ships such as Tengu's, Drakes, Blackbirds, Falcons, Naga's, and Hookbill's are used with deadly effect.
Ultimately you'll just have to decide which fleet size / challenge level you want to begin learning PvP at. I always prefer smaller fleet work myself, because victory revolves more around which gang exhibits greater talent, as supposed to which superpower shows up with greater numbers.
Don't be fooled into thinking that 0.0 is the ultimate destination for PvP. It's just the ultimate destination for one kind of PvP.
Also, anyone telling you that you must sell your toon because you trained Caldari and want to PvP has no idea what they are talking about. If you love Caldari ships, there is a corp and an FC that will use you. I guarantee it. |

I doubt it is your skills , like a earlier poster said , drake fleets and now naga s are populair , and a good falcon pilot always is welcome, Main problem here is trust , those nullsec alliances have become so paranoid about spies and possible leaks they almost stopped recruiting outside their own group of people And then they complain nobody wants to go to nullsec I do not agree with what you are saying , but i will defend to the death your right to say it...... You should learn a tackler t2 frigate or faction frigate. It's just a few weeks. Tacklers are needed everywhere and they fit in every fleet composition. After that you should give another try to join a corp. As a second step guardian and scimitar. Everybody loves logi pilots and in most of the null corps usually they have ship reimbursement programm on those ships so flying those things is healthy for your wallet too. |

Although lately I have been wondering if perhaps flying pirate ships is cool.
Anyway, if you have been flying for 4 years you should have all basic skills skilled up, changing to another race ships wouldn't be that hard you only have to train a few specific skills. And these days a Rokh should be able to be an acceptable fleet ship in some situations? Hahahaha!
To summarize:
1) Nullsec players complain about carebears never PvPing. 2) Nullsec players grief endlessly to "help" carebears learn to move to 0.0, cause out there its "totally awesome bro" 3) Carebear responds to griefer "stimulus", decides his bearing days are over, asks for help becoming a PvPer. 4) Nullsec player complains that carebear is merely whining for attention and needs to GTFO.
In no other game will you enjoy the privilege of being harassed by other players, actually decide do what they say they want you to do, and than receive even more harassment.
Don't forget everyone, THIS is what they all say makes EvE so unique and special!! Its so "hardcore" that real badasses can pretend they're in fight club and ignore those who want to play while hypocritically complaining that they're not "actually" playing in the first place.
That's why we're all here right? Certainly not to build empires, topple empires, tell stories, strive to become the best PvP pilot, run your own business, or any of that other ******** stuff people do when they're bored of antagonizing noobs.

It is narrow-minded horseshit.
There are plenty of viable Caldari ships that can be PvP'd with, even if your alliance hasn't taught you how to fly them yet.

I agree that there are plenty of great Caldari ships for PvP. However, there are not great Caldari ships for every fleet doctrine, and to ask to join a group while saying "I won't crosstrain to help the group" is a little insane.
Sov Nullsec is not somewhere RPers tend to thrive (Provi Bloc doesn't count 'cause Provi). We crosstrain because we need Batman's utility belt to be full of available and useful doctrines (Drake Blob and Thundercats are both great ones). Single-Shard, Player Driven Sandbox.

this seems a little bit strange to me.
So you have trained Caldari skills up to "good" in addition to some "productive skills". Sounds good, because you trained 4 years long (?). Some of you skills must be somehow outstanding.
Now some 0-sec-corporations do not accept your application, because you've trained the "wrong" skills?
Where's the problem to just train these required skills from now on? If the adressed 0-sec-corp still refuses to accept you, then (my conclusion) they also do not want newbies, because they also start from Zero.
I read some statements some months ago - if i rember right, from an official page here - like: "You can't train the wrong skills. There are only skills, you haven't trained so far."
With that in mind, i suggest one of the followings:
* pause the training queue for "Naga" for some time. It's not lost. You may pick up it again later on. Maybe some time in the future CCP mades some rebalancing and suddenly your skills are relevant. * seek for another 0-sec-corporation, who have use for you current professions and skills. * stay whereever you are now until you trained your "Naga" * look for a low-sec-corporation
An additional remark: In my opinnion it should be irrelevant, from which country a player cames from as long as he/she is able to communicate with the others.
Only thing to consider seems to be the time zones, depending on the goals of the corporation.

"You cannot PvP in Caldari ships" is in NO WAY advice that helps anyone "adapt". It is narrow-minded horseshit. There are plenty of viable Caldari ships that can be PvP'd with, even if your alliance hasn't taught you how to fly them yet. Fleet doctrines exist for the same reason real life armies use standardized equipment. You make sure every soldier has consistent performance based on gear, and its much more effective to work that way than with everyone showing up with the gun his daddy gave him.
Additionally, even he said in the OP that he wasn't told caldari can't pvp, he was told he would be expected to fly a scorp(ECM is what caldari bring to pvp, and they are dam good at it if you fly an ECM boat).
We don't like most of the other caldari ships for large scale engagements because missiles generate more lag than guns, as we were told by CCP, so we don't want every ship shooting missiles and making the issue worse for us.
If you want to come out and join up, you will be expected to be able to fly in at least 2 doctrine fleets, caldari can provide Scorps, brobirds, falcons, etc. All ECM, which he stated he didn't want to do because its boring. You want to make things blow up in a major fleet, fly the ships they want you to. Insist on being a special snowflake, and you will restrict your own roles.
I know all this as a gallente pilot who lives in null. The only Gallente ships welcome in doctrine fleets are Lachesis, which is an expensive loss every time you go out(people hate them long points). o/`-á Lord, I want to be a gynecologist.. KY, rubber gloves, and a flashlight.-á o/` |

Thanks Tallian, Ruby -
And this is exactly why many of us just don't find nullsec thrilling. In lowsec, the lack of the massive fleet battles means that corps don't have to rely on specified doctrines to achieve victory, and players can make use of the skill points they have rather than being forced to wait to crosstrain to become useful.
The result is frequent, smaller scale PvP that is both fun, challenging, and can be done in a much wider variety of ships.
I don't think its unreasonable to ask alliance members to fly certain ships to protect their territory, but that's exactly space outside of nullsec is important to develop as well, in the interest of providing cutting-edge PvP in all flavors.
I only say this because there's still a bunch of folks out there hung up on the idea that EvE is all about 0.0 and that those who don't move to 0.0 are somehow risk-adverse or have carebear tendencies.
I think its best that when PvE players are at a cross-roads like the OP was that they understand that there are just as many things (like forced ship compositions) that make nullsec not very fun, and that if he's looking for quality PvP training that lowsec is just as good a place to apply. |

Yeah, no. Rokhs are pretty popular now actually. Better range than Hellcats, and the advantage that shield RR is applied at the start of the cycle rather than the end mean that shield BS are used plenty. And of coure the Maelstrom is the stalwart ship of the Alphafleet doctrine.
The railgun buff - particularly the reductions in fitting & cap requirements - have made Rokhs a very viable fleet ship again.
And as said above, the Naga is pretty damb good too, and I think it will get even more popular as time goes by.
And ofc the Drake is a great workhorse for almost any type of PvP situation.
Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.
