Lady Rayge	Posted - 2007.10.07 10:08:00 - [1] Hi there, I was looking through some of the faction ships and noticed something odd. Every race gets a faction combat cruiser except amarr. Why is it that amarr are lumped with a faction logistics ship?? or is there something i'm missing about this cruiser. I noticed it has 7 low slots so is it meant to be some sort of uber tank? No setups listed in the sticky either. is this just yet another example of "oooops... i chose amarr"? thanks

The Navy Auguror looks like a standard heavy armor-tanked laser boat, perfectly in line with the Amarrian mold. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... If your willing to settel for 30ish k then its one of the only faction cruisers that will give hac serious problems. -------------------------------------------

Not trying to be rude but there really isnt more to be said than what was said. But I will tell you that this ship is one of, if not the, nastiest heavy tackler there is. Once it gets a hold of you it really hard to get rid of it, especially if it's gang members are useing repper drones.

It's not just any obvious bait ship! It's THE obvious bait ship! Any KOS will recognize you for what you are, as the ship has just one roll. But pirates tend to attack first ask questions never. Do you think if you fly this ship in low sec nobody will attack you? If thats the case I think it just became the best small transport ship ever.

Posted - 2007.10.08 18:48:00 - [13] it can propably handle some lvl3s but i dont think its performance there will be very impressive. the armor hp bonus is more suited for a large buffer tank which is more useful in pvp instead of pve. you're likely better off doing lvl3s in a retri, harbinger or zealot (if you want to really burst through them in style).

Some energized regenerative membrane IIs. 3 x Trimark armor pumps. Mind you I doubt you can fit much else to it, but you'll have plenty of armor. Use your brain, I'm sitting here looking at a setup with 55k armour hp before rigs and it took me about 30 seconds to figure out.

The best I can manage without rigs is only 43k :( That's without expensive faction mods though. ---------

To bad that somebody who actualy could use it (means can just fly Cruiser and does level 2 missions) has no real changs to get one except wastring millions of ISK :(. I made my way to a standing of nearly 7 for Viziam just with level 2 missions becouse my skills are to bad for level 3/4 missions but I'm nowhere near the amount of LP I'd need for a Navy-Frig. Well, now I trained BC/BS and it would be absolut sensless to buy a Navy-Frig/Cruiser except for e-peen :(. I'd wish, my agents would offer me one if my standing to him reached 9+. level 1 offers Navy Frig, level 2 Navy Cruiser, level 3 Navy BC ... ups, there isn't one g. ye, but you get what I mean. Don't bother with Navys below BS and better train Assault, BC, HAC. It's cheaper, faster AND better!

I think it's something silly like: 9.2 - Frigate 9.4 - Cruiser 9.8 - Battleship But by the time you actually have that standing you'd have more than enough isk / LP to buy the damn things. ---------

And its not like any of the other faction cruisers are particularly awesome, either. navy caracal, fleet stabber or navy vexor are all vastly superior to the navy aug for pvp uses. problem is that its based on 2 cruisers (maller and aug) that both have a lot of issues. navy omen or arbitrator would likely be a lot better. the only advantage the navy aug really has are its looks. also this thread has so far mised the main issue with the navy aug and its other variations: they are spelled wrong/differently (auguror vs augoror).

Navy vexor is marginally better than the vexor? navy vexor gets 2 more lowslots over the normal vexor (removing the main weakness of this cruiser), a bigger dronebay and generally more of everything. and a vexor is one of the top pvp cruisers to start with. on top of that it has 2 extremly useful bonuses resulting in a very good damageoutput. maller on the other hand is merely a bait ship and heavy tackler. damage is pitiful and only gets increased by a 15m3 dronebay on the navy aug. the laser capuse bonus is just as wasted on this ship as it is on the normal maller. to be successful against top pvp cruisers you will most likely need to bait them into coming into web range and then dual web them and somehow hope that your weak damage will eventually break them before they train up an alt to come and rescue their ship.
