Full insurance on a Scorpion now exceeds the cost of buying one by approx. 8M isk.
Are we going back to the old days of cheap and easy to replace insured BS?

Maybe this will be offset by more expensive T2 modules.
Although off-the-shelves modules on a scorp is nothing to scoff at, in my experience. ------------------------------------------- "My main griveance with the Caldari state was that once I had finished my work for them, they wanted me dead."

71 mill payout (Platinum insurance) -21 mill cost = 50 mill
Are you saying Scorps cost 42M, Safespot?

And the cycle can be started again for a layout of 25-30M isk.

Ok so forget the initial 21 mill. For the 71 mill you get you need a new ship and a new insurance. That would still mean if the ship costs more than 50 mill, you will have to use more than the 71 mill the payout was. And then there are modules, like Jebidus said..

Didn't say it was free - just that once you get a BS (lvl 1, at least) it's a matter of earning 25-30M to ensure a quick replacement.
30M is easy isk.
Of course, it depends on how often you lose 'em.

No need to have modules on your ship if you can shell out less money for the insurance than you paid for the ship, go get it blown up by a friend outside the station and recieve more isk than it took to build the ship. Rinse and Repeat and you got yourself a nice source of income again thx to the lower prices of megacyte (lower than a few montha ago, getting back to normal prices though)

It costs 42 million to build a scorp from raw based materials.
BUT
Getting those materials together is a hassle, a big big hassle. Who in thier right mind is gonna get all those materials together, build the scorps and then blow them up, for 8 million???
Like ass.
That is about right, market price is about 50 anyway, and if you can get them at trade, that 8 mill barely covers a few modules.
No big deal.

Someone will though, just so they can whine to CCP about "insurance scams" in an attempt to nerf something that is better just left alone.

That makes no sense. If nobody's going to bother getting all the materials together and building them, for the sake of 8 million ... who's selling them for 8 million profit?

Actually, just set up a buy order (or even better arrange a contract with a mining corp) in a station where you have a factory - the cheap minerals build up eventually and it certainly is no hassle to buy and transport the expensive ones. Not exactly mega-money to be sure, but then again it requires almost no work.
Never actually done what I've suggested above myself, although I have done a few 'long walks' into asteroid belts with no modules fitted in the past . With insurance set at 6 weeks I doubt I'd bother though.

I think he is, Propan.
You don't want to explain it to me Spot, cause you would realise your post doesn't make sense? Unless bs's drop to like 30-40mil, mega prices are down to 4k again, insurance won't be profitable. And when that happens, you can yell exploit cause insurance is abused and ppl are making killer profits
Hi nimrod.
Read the posts by other people then consider your response more carefully.
Building, insuring, and destroying a Scorp gives you 8M profit.
