I have one character for mining, but I would like to set up another account. I don't want to pay $30 a month for EVE Online, so I have to buy a 30-day gtc. Would it take an extremely long time to earn 170 million isk for a gtc? When I do buy the 30-day gtc, I will be activating the account from the 14-day trial. Do I have to pay $20 for the game, or does the 30 day gtc cover that? Also, when I set up my second account, should I just have both mine into a jet can and then haul it or what? Thanks in advance! -------

A well skilled pilot in Retriever with one mining upgrade and drones should pull in around 750m3/minute
If we say you mine Veld that comes out to (roughly) 75,000.00 ISK/minute, or 4,5 million per hour
So, you'll need to mine Veldspar 10 hours per week to keep the account running with BPCs

Edited by: Paulo Damarr on 08/10/2007 07:20:49 If you do make a second account train your first new char into basic hauling and then run 2 clients at once and use it to haul the ore instead of jetcanning just drop the ore off between cycles when the hauler is full, 3 mins is plenty of time. This way your Barge is constantly mining and your less likely to be annoyed by ore thieves,.
If you mine veld and scord and refine yourself you should be able to make enough to get a GTC.
edit
Get yourself the best mining upgrades and implants you can afford to.

You can also mine in mission sites - level 1 missions are easy enough to clear out and lots of them are loaded with veld. Jetcan mine to your heart's content and nobody will bother you (can pirates almost always only look for easy targets).
It'll still go faster if you run both characters though, have one mine and one haul.

CCP just started power of 2 again. I would start off with that its a good deal. after 6 months you will be able to make much more isk.

Train for Covetors/exhumers, and you won't have to mine as much. The Covetor alone will jack up your ISK flow by 50%, meaning you only have to mine 2/3 as much. The Hulk can get pretty ungodly amounts mined, too. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

If you want to mine as a source of income, you'll be training up retriever skills. Inevitably you'll hit Coveter skills, then its just a shot jump to Hulk Skills.
In my Hulk (T2 strip miners + crystals + max mining skills + T1 mining upgrades = 150mil max, no implants) I can pull 27500m3 (i.e. full can) of ore every 20-24min or so. Assuming trit prices of 3isk, and you're mining nothing but veld, thats about 7.2mil per hour.
For 170mil, that'll take you around 23 hours. Assume 25 to take into account the switching on and off of mining lasers.
conclusion: 1) Mining will get you enough isk to pay using GTC, and 2) Mine something other then veld.
