Just looking to work on my Astarte fitting so constructive crit is welcome :) I have a fair amoutn of experience flying my solo brutix so i thought id fit it as such. I thought about going gank but i dont want to spend that much on a gank ship when there are pleanty of cheeper ships who do it almost as well for a fraction of the cost.
This is soley based on my brutix, so any advice would be great, i may be f*cking up badly.
Starting with a solid tank Lows 2 x Medium Armor Rep ll 2 x EANM ll 1 x Damage control ll 1 x Tech 2 Magstab
Meds 1 x 10mn Microwarp Drive ll 1 x Web 1 x Tech 2 Warp Disruptor 1 x Med Electrochem Cap booster w/800s
Highs 6 x Tech 2 Med Neutron Blasters 1 x Tech 2 Ion Blaster
1 x Ancillary Current Router 1 x Anti Exp Pump
This is pretty much the lows of my Brute but with a Magstab. I didnt want to have active hards in my lows for cap reasons so i thought about having 3 separate passive hards but the difference between 3 passives and 2 EANMs is fractional. You get 4% less exp resistance with my skills and you lose 1% off therm and Kin but you gain in EM so i didnt think it would be worth it. Plus the Magstab adds a whoping 100 more dps to the blasters.
This thing looks like it would have a pretty formidable tank and pretty decent gank to boot.
This would be used mainly for solo work (Pretty suicidal ill admit but i want it anyway :))
Any thought or anyone care to share their setup?

Edited by: Jasai Kameron on 10/10/2007 18:35:51 This setup probably doesn't work without a faction rep, but I thought I'd post it anyway (as T2).
1 x Medium Rep II 1 x EAN II 1 x Explosive Hardener II 1 x Damage Control II 2 x Mag Stab II
1 x Electrochemical Cap Booster 1 x Y-T8 MwD 1 x Stasis Web II 1 x Warp Disrupt II
7 x Neutrons II
1 x Nanobot Accelerator Rig 1 x Auxilliary Nano Pump Rig
Unfortunately you are about 3 pg out, so you need one of the Squire PG rigs. Only need the 1% one, though, with this setup, so it's dirt cheap. If I recall, you need the 3% if you upgrade to Centum Armor Rep. (Yep, those reps are very expensive I know. That's why I posted this as T2.)
Advantages to this setup is your cap lasts almost forever, you get more damage with 7 x Neutrons and 2 x Mag Stab. The disadvantage is tank, but with 2 rigs affecting it, plus your ship bonus, you get a fair bit of armor rep out of the one rep. Obviously the setup shines with faction gear, but then, what setup doesn't?

2 x EANM IIs and x 1 DCU II with maxed armor comp skills give almost equal resists to 3 x t2 active resists. I would fit an exp II too though..

This had worked well for me, more of a dueling set-up, but does well in small-gang solo work also.
High: 6 Heavy Neutron's Teck 2
Med: 10mn MWD teck 2, fleeting web, 24k scam, med electrochem
Low: 1 Med Rep Teck 2, 1600 thungston, Dark blood eanm, 2 Shadow mag stabs, active exp hardner
Rigs: ccc, Exp rig
5 Hammerhead 2's
15,429 armor: Slave-set Low-Grade

How about:
3x Heavy Neutron II 4x Heavy Ion II
10mn MWD II Warp Disruptor II Fleeting Web Medium Electrochem Cap Booster
2x MAR II 1x Explo Hardener II 1x EANM II 1x DCU II 1x MFS II
1-2x Aux Nano Pump 0-1x Nanobot accelerator
5x Hammerhead IIs / 5x Med ECM drones
800 DPS dealt, 540 DPS tanked.

I run almost exactly the same setup as you(op)
Though i got another ion on top(skills to low)
and my lows are abit dfferent. 2 mar II, 2 eamn II, 1x exp hard II, adn a DCU II (or a magstab) ACR I rig and a repp ammount rig (that 1k+ hp per repp is nice)
Boosts the tank alot, but damage output could be better.
Now one of my crazy setups, witch i do use for some occations or when i rat ( )
7x neutron II
MWD II, webb, scram, med injector.
Mar II, 2 eamn II, 3x magstab (or 2 magstabs and a DCU/exp hard)
ACR rig (from the above setup) and a exp armor rig.
Now i suck at calculating DPS, but god it hurts alot. And thast enough for me! But i do usualy sacrifice those 5 hammerhead IIs for my oh so beloverd 5x vespa ECm drones, dont laugh, its a lifesaver and have given me victory or a fast escape many times indeed.
(also imagine when 5 astarte/gallente blaster boats field these drones of caldari, tried it with a rax gang and well. you dont need a tank ) -----------------------------

This actually looks like a v interesting setup. Similar to mine but with a solid tank.
But i was under the impression that nanobot accelerators just depleated your cap faster.
What would you recomend, 2 Aux Nano Pumps or 1 Aux pump and one nanobot?

Hey btw
I'd use 2 Aux Nano's for cap reasons as you stated. I also intend to use a setup like the one above when I finally get round to buying my own ------- Killing innocents since Jan 06

Damage Control II Armor Explosive Hardener II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II Magnetic Field Stabilizer II 800mm Reinforced Steel Plates II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II Tracking Disruptor II
Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II Heavy Neutron Blaster II
Trimark Armor Pump I Trimark Armor Pump I
5% med hybrid damage implant, 5% turret damage implant, 3% armour Hp implant are the relevant implants, gang mates fly with remote armour reps, with my Command V, Med Blaster spec V skills it's prob about 1100 dps inc Hammerhead II's. About 11600 armour HP. Doesn't need much cap so the TD in the mids helps if you get in close to a blasterthron or other close range BS, this can be swapped around for though for somethign that may suit you better.
EDIT - gangmates are essential with remote reps though. The Eos's I fly with usually carry one each.

Looks like a sound setup but isnt it painfully slow? It isnt such a problem for plate/gankathron pilots because large blasters actually have decent range so you wont need to move around alot but on an astarte?
Seams a shame to have all that dps and not be able to put it on targets at will. Or is this not an issue with CS gank ships?

Unless things have changed mechanically in the game, putting plates on command ships can be problematic -- it makes them very slow and cumbersome. Sure, the added armor is nice, but... I tend to go plateless with CSs and use active repair. Especially with Eos/Astarte, with the nice repper bonus they get.
On a Damnation I'd be tempted to put a plate, though.

And those trimarks are going to make that astarte a flying brick. Id be tempted just to active tank, even if you can only get 1 med rep on.

It's slow yes, but not so slow as to be unusable, of course don't forget gang skills, all of us in our gangs have pretty much maxed bonus skills and that helps, agility isn't great but it hits 1100 m/s, more if the Claymore pilot is out of course.
It's nice to use the rep bonus, but a rep or two (no point unless you fit 2 IMO) also means a cap booster, and 2 reps and cap booster means no rack of 7 neutrons, there isn't the grid.

If you downgrade all your blasters to Ions could you fit a nano pump instead of the pg rig? That would probably be a nice boost in tank for little dps loss.
