Ok, so you want to get rid of some more static content that is heavily camped. Great. Just don't forget to FIX THE EXPLORATION CONTENT FIRST.
I explore ( 0.0 ) radar sites all the time, yet I am lucky if I find one that gives me 1-3 decrypters. I would love it if I could satisfy my need for decrypters from exploration, but given how rarely the sites spawn in the first place, and how few decrypters they yield, this is simply not possible, so I end up spending a few hours a few days a month in the COSMOS plex stocking up on 10x the number of decrypters I find through exploration.
If you don't want to totally kill invention and drive the price of T2 goods back up, then you need to seed a few more exploration sites ( I only find one about every other day in the dozen or so systems I regularly scan ), and make them drop a lot more decrypters.

invention is going to seriously increase in price, thus giving the bpo holders a huge advantage over inventors.
right now, decryptors are between 1.5M - 20M, after this change, as we saw with DED complexes, the cost of decryptors will go up, ALOT.
personally, i'm expecting 20M - 50M, perhaps more.
bye bye invention.
other than that, I will add nothing to this thread. |

They did say they're transferring the supply over to Exploration rather than eliminating it. How they'll do that, how effectively, and how long it'll take players to take advantage of it will be interesting though. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Edited by: Whip Slagcheek on 10/10/2007 19:56:58 Moving decryptor goods into exploration gives CCP 100% control over supply. Whether or not the decryptors rise or fall in price depends solely on how CCP implements this.
If the sites are extremely easy to find, very plentiful (almost 1 in every system in low sec and 0.0), and give a lot of decryptors (30 to 100) for a moderate amount of time of exploration and plex running (1 hour) then decryptors could potentially plummet in price.
If exploration continues as it is where you need multiple hours to find a site and the site often has nothing or only a few decryptors, then expect decryptors to become so expensive that they will only be used for the most profitable items of that race.
We'll have to wait to see how they implement the change to know if it's a good thing or not.
I, for one, am happy they got rid of the immune hi sec plex farming.

I second this. Getting rid of the COSMOS farming was great, but you need to compensate by seriously increasing the supply coming from exploration. And I mean SERIOUSLY.

Edited by: Venkul Mul on 12/10/2007 06:54:14 1) moving decryptors out of the COSMOS static plex: good move
2) increasing the Radar sites so explorer can fintd the above decryptors: very good.
The prices are currently raising because more than a month ago a campaign to buy all the decryptors in preparation for Revelation 3 wa initiated by resellers. They where even advertising that to get the price to climb faster.
The price you see now are the later comers buying up decryptors and datacores at alreadi increased prices.
BTW gallente decryptors never got to the 0.5-20 mil isk price. The hulk kept the best in the 50 mil range.

I think CCP stacked too much invention on gallente anyways, the the overinflated costs of gallente invention materials. Maybe some things will be moved to Minnie and caldari to make it more even.
But yes, CCP really needs to do something about exploration before they move anything else to a broken system. Most exploartion sites take ages to find, i havent been able to find a site in less that 2 hours for a while now, and the rewards from rats are less than belt ratting, and all for a higher amount of risk (alot more rats ships that are stronger than the normal ones).

It'll be interesting to see what strategy they take. My first guess would be by increasing drops per can, and maybe by fiddling with the signal size of Radar sites. Other possibilities would be increasing cans per site and increasing the number of sites like you suggest, and some combination of all.
Pure speculation, but fun. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.
