As you can see from the thread here, there is a problem with factories swallowing minerals.
When a job is installed and the factory rent runs out whilst the job is still in progress, the BP/BPC is ejected but half the minerals are taken/confiscated. This seems harsh and somewhat ridiculous.
The thread above also contains suggestions for how to improve the current system. Something that could be introduced in the next patch perhaps?

Seems fair enough to me, you dont pay your bills, you pay for it through the nose with a fine.
Dont get me wrong, im sorry you lost the mins you did, but you should really learn to pay your bills

Meh, you're entitled to your opinion. I just think the 'cost' as it is is imbalanced and more could be done to help avoid it.
Yep, I should have paid the bill. But having only recently taken charge of this corp there's been a lot of stuff to sort out - not difficult to lose track of such things.

A warning that "there is not enough time remaining to product this item" would work.

Making sure your rent is paid works even better. If you can't be bother'd to check your wallet for 'Bills', your loss, stop nagging and live with it.

Why was my production cancelled and a large portion of my minerals missing? Factories are rented for one week at a time. If you wish to extend your rental period before it runs out, you need to manually pay a bill that will appear in your wallet under Bills -> Payable. You pay the bills be clicking the arrow on the far-right. If you fail to do this the factory will automatically be unrented in exactly a week after you rented it, regardless of whether there is a job in progress. If there happens to be a job in progress when the factory is unrented, it is immediately cancelled and a part of the minerals required for the job are taken as a penalty.

Thanks, I know that (now).
My problem is with the size of the penalty. I also think more could be done (in game) to warn you.

I agree, a warning on insertion of the job that the batches you have entered will exceed the time period for which you are renting the factory.
At least it would warn you and you can go pay the bill if you wish to keep it.
You will still have to go pay the bill, but at least you will know it hasn't already been paid by another member.
Yeah, I think 1/2 the minerals is harsh still even after all this time. Why not lock the factory job, charge them 2% of the build cost to complete the job and another rental fee?
I mean you don't see aircraft disintegrate when people rush through a more important job, and then return to building it.
