Edited by: DC223 on 21/10/2007 01:00:38 Did anyone here get confirmation that their submission was received? They didn't respond at all when I sent mine in.

I just sent my entry in, I hope I made it... I have no idea what the deadline is / was.
Here's what I put together:
I have to admit a fish-eye lens makes me look half-way handsome and was just the thing I needed for this portrait... ;) In reality, without the improvements afforded by a distorting camera lens, I'm not quite as tuff-looking.
Other fun facts:
The snap-on shades I'm wearing here, when combined with my eyeglasses, just happened to match the double-bridge design on my avatar's sunglasses.
There are actually THREE pictures here. The first one was my EVE portrait, obviously, at the bottom of the pile. The second photo was a fish-eyed shot taken with my cellphone's camera - low quality, bad colors. I took my snap-on shades and jacket from that one (the jacket looks very low-quality compared to my face in the high-resolution version) and used the rest of it as a "mold" if you will. The third photo was a high-quality frontal shot taken of me some months back, but sadly void of the lovely fish-eye effect and hence less suitable for this chop-up job shape-wise. Since it had great colors and detail, though, I cut pieces from it (forehead, nose, cheek, chin, throat, ear, hair, etc) and molded them over the fish-eyed shot to make it look less like a JPEG-artifacting zombie ;) The venetian blinds in the background are also from that shot.
If you look reaaaaally closely (zoom in) you can just barely see my hands reflecting off the "real" half of my shades. They showed up in the cellphone photo I took and I figured I'd leave'em there as a freakish detail. In the high-resolution version you can just barely see my face, too, as I was standing in front of a mirror while taking the photo.
In real life I actually have a neck! To make the left and right shoulders a closer match in height, I had to bring the jacket quite a bit upwards.

here's mine.
My avatar's forehead is WAY bigger than mine and since I have wavey/curly hair, I can't slick it back to match his (not to mention the 5-head). It still looks good though.

Right, decided to have a go at this yesterday, snapped a couple of pictures, noticed the lighting was way off but decided to do the merge thing anyway. Turned out like this:
Today I decided to try again. Proper lighting this time, but I just can't get the face to match up right.
I'd like to know when the competition closes so I know if I should abandon it altogether or if I should keep at it...

Hmmm, - this will givem a hard time to chose a winner, when I see those entries. - real nice work in here, congrats.
Well, to the rules of competition, indeed, some input from Wrangler would be advisable. Deadline aso. But its not closed yet, I guess.

Edit: If I looked anything like Eminem I'd have a try, but I don't. ... Hmmm, might try with a pic of Eminem though!

So did I! I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, but of the people who posted here I think (for the males) the winner is a toss up between Estjon and Cairo -- good show! As far as the females, well I'm biased for one so I'll withhold judgment

So they announced the winner last night (a girl, I don't remember her name) but all they did was show the winner's pict and hand out the prize. I was actually disappointed that they didn't show any of these other picts here that everyone has created. Maybe they'll make up for it by posting it on the website somehow.

Congratulations to the winner :)
Here's to hoping they'll post the winner's portrait somewhere on this site! I wouldn't mind seeing a gallery of everyone who participated, either.
