Right down to my idea. As Eve gets bigger and a new 'shard' is needed why not have that shard as a new Galaxy? One that you can migrate to, would be good for newbies or semi newbies to see if they could explore and spread in that new galaxy and allow the corporations to have that 'start up' feeling again.
Of course it would start out as being pretty empty of everything and people would have to set stuff up (more events) The only thing you couuld move thorough these galactic gates would be you, a max cruiser size ship and whatever you could fit in your cargo. You would have to log onto this new shard of course.
What does everyone think?

That's the only shard I'd be willing to accept, that is the lure with EVE, everyone in the same galaxy. It still being so in the sense that you still exist yet have to submit to a few days of travel in moving the account over to the next galaxy would work but I don't see this happening anytime soon.

I wasn't thinking a few days to move the account, I'm thinking people would want to move onto the new shard for the ability to expand and search out new places...There wouldn't be many stations to begin with but when we get these outposts we can move them there and set up shop, maybe selling them to concord for a bomb and therefore increasing the Sec rating?

..hm. It certainly would be a nifty way of distributing server-load -- create a new network of systems and grant access to it; have it lack NPC pirates 'til storyline and player development in the new systems sets out where 'civilization' is going to be..

They could then add the Empires gaining footholds and depending on what 'link' you used is where you end up..smaller safe areas and more places to begin...maybe add in new techs etc which as people move between the galaxys would slowly appear in the 'old space' section.
The new area would be expensive too because everything would have to be hawled in.

They could just expand the existing EVE universe further. Adding the ability to discover systems and such.
I think CCP wants to keep EVE all in one universe, as well as direct all resources towards that single universe.
