what ive heard is drones skill will still limit you to 5 drones, bandwidth will control the amount of drones you can have out while allowing for larger drone bays (and thus replacement drones). so you can carry 5 heavies in bay, but only use 3 for example.

If that were true. Could you imagine the drone/fighter restriction in fleet battles. 0 to no fighters for carriers. That would be funny.

i think you might be confused. each ship will have its own diffrent bandwith. now i dont know if you will still be able to use 25 fighters but it dont think carriers are going to be affected that much.

Umm...
It obviously wouldn't the same for each ship...

This. Quoted for Absolute Truth.
Stop the rampant speculation - it's useless and fruitless.

Yup lots of unknowns in regards to the next major expansion but a few things are known.
Band with is going to be entered into the game allowing larger drone bays by limiting Drone usage based on a point system per drone probably still max 5. Plus new Drones are being released.

TBH, there are several reasons for the rampant speculation.
1) CCP's penchant to randomly drop meganerfs on anything that moves 2) the necessity to plan skills months out 3) the irreplacable months of skilling already completed
As long as those exist, then there will be just speculation over upcoming changes.

erm the skills you learn will always have a function, its not like when a ship changes everything you have completed will suddenly hold you back.

I expect a new rig coming that increases drone bandwidth. With one of those, the Myrmidon will be able to use 5 heavies, just like today.
Yes, this is pure speculation on my part, put it is how i think it will be.
BTW, i just bought my first Myrmidon and it looks like one of those transformers that toy stores sell to kids.

Well, this has been confirmed from what I've read.
1) You still will have a limit (on normal ships) of 5 drones used at a time. 2) Drone bays will be expanded to allow for lots of spares 3) They will limit the size of drones used by introducing bandwidth. Most likely it'll be something along the lines of 1 bandwidth for lights, 2 for mediums, 5 for heavies or a multiple of these numbers (like 3/6/15).
MY SPECULATION (do NOT quote for truth) Also, the "incoming Myrmidon nerf" is simply that it is very likely that the Myrmidon will no longer have the bandwitdh to field a full set of heavy drones. I expect, though, that it'll probably be able to field 2-3 heavies and the rest mediums. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

With the incoming nerf it would be nice to see it's bonus' change a little bit perhapse. I'd love to see it's drones get a speed bonus of some sort so I could kill bloody intercepters.... So far the only thing I can think of using to kill ceptors is other ceptors...

The Ishtar has its bonuses specifically stratified for Heavy drones as well as Scout and it was mentioned in the same breath as the Dominix as a heavy drone carrier, so I HIGHLY doubt they'll screw with it.
Then again, they screwed with missioning Ravens, so who knows - maybe I will get to start wasting their time by petitioning to get SP back I never would have trained otherwise.

Throw some Drone Navigation Computers on - three of them should boost Warrior IIs past 10 km/s ...

CCP ocasionally overkills, but mostly, the changes are just right and not 'meganerfs' or whatever dramatic name you'd like to apply to game balancing.
Originally by: Ezekiel Sulastin

No such necessity. It is not necessary at all to plan skills - I never did, could never pursue a set skill plan due to RL obligations, anyway. They do deserve a nerf, though ;P

You're making it sound like your SPs got deleted - that's just silly. Many, many skills reflect on nearly all of the ships in game. All skills widen the options you have in what you can fly and fit.
At any rate, the Myrmidon will still be a beast of a BC even if they change it so it can just field mediums.
