Bein Glorious GoonFleet GoonSwarm	Posted - 2007.10.13 19:16:00 - [1] Recently they changed the Rook on SiSi by removing the sixth highslot and adding a third lowslot. Now the Falcon and the Rook have the same number of lows and mids. Before this, the weaker jam strength on the Falcon was justified by the fact that if it had the same ECM Strength bonus as the Rook, the Falcon's third low would make the Rook obsolete because it would be able to out-jam it and also cloak, as discussed in this thread. Since they both have the same mids and lows, this is no longer the case, and it's about time for the Falcon to get a little attention. It has practically no DPS at all (no turret/missile damage bonuses and a 2/2 split setup), it is neither fast nor durable, and unless you have Recon Ships V, as an ECM vessel it's not significantly better than just a simple blackbird. Since this is sort of "Sweeps week" for balance changes, I exhort you to please consider changes like these: Increase the Falcon's ECM Strength Bonus from 10% per level to 15-20% per level. (Maybe you could give it just a +15% bonus since it can fit a covops cloak and the Rook can't, it depends) Switch the Recon Ships and Caldari Cruiser bonuses for both the Rook and Falcon - Make the ECM Jam strength bonus based on Caldari Cruiser and make the ECM Optimal Range bonus based on Recon Ships. If you have max skills this doesn't change anything, but otherwise you don't need Recon Ships V (a 27 day skill) to get Caldari Recons to really pay off, but it will still be very nice to have. Give the Falcon 3 launcher and/or turret hardpoints. It'll still do really terrible DPS, but hey, why not. thanks yo

Andreya	Posted - 2007.10.14 04:30:00 - [9] I wouldnt mind a boost to the falcon, but we are missing the point. a recon can cloak, the combat cannot, i dont care what little bonus's a combat will have over a recon, the power to warp around cloaked is a 'massive' advantage imho when it comes to pvp. cept the pilgrim... the pilgrim just blows, (give it a 6th mid, or give nos range instead of nos amount)

This is simply because of survivability of moving unseen and the synergy between a 20-second jam cycle and periodic cloaking. I have a Rook that has been sitting in my hangar that I don't even bother undocking anymore; The added versatility and survivability of the Falcon more than outweigh the lower jamming strength. I don't care about the damage and I don't even fit weapons on mine; I'm outside range of heavy missiles 99% of the time while jamming anyway. I agree about switching the ECM bonus over to Caldari Cruiser level though. It wouldn't effect me at all (had Recon V for like a year ), but the ship just can't be flown properly without it. All the ECM ship hulls could use some lovin', but if any of them really needs an overhaul, it's the Scorpion.
