Has anyone managed to do this successfully? I've played around with VM player but their support for directx seems to be rather lacking. |

I've managed to run it in a VM instance, using VMware Workstation vSomething.Build... Didn't run too well though.

Yeah, WANT. I would love to run ESX 3.0x on my puter and have Eve in one instance, corporate VPN on Linux in another.

VMware Workstation 5.5 (Windows / Linux) has some experimental support for DirectX and Parallels Desktop 3.0 (Mac OS X) claims to support it.

VMware workstation does not yet have official 3d support. They are experimenting with it and considering adding it in, but as of yet it's not really possible.

Edited by: Lebowske on 14/10/2007 23:12:44 Even tough it may be a bit dodgy to do - *why* would you like to do it? I mean, secure browsing & stuff like that is ideal for VMW, but why do you need to keep your (home) environment safe from eve?
edit: Eve doesnt need a "session" on a computer to survive. If you want to maintain a "clean" state on your main computer, just install eve - drop it over to an external disk, remove disk - uninstall eve.
You can now run eve from that disk at any time. And your performance is the same as on the computer you're running on - compared to VM which is quite lacking just that. VM's has so many other uses - but gaming isnt one of them. --------------------
- It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people believe you're an idiot, rather than opening it and removing all doubt.

Im running eve on a Mac mini with Parallels 3.0 and its working rather well. It certanly could be better since it starts lagging as soon as you get to much stuff on your screen, but then again that could be because of my graphics card.
