OK it has been over a week, dozens of missions and a few event missions and plenty of downtimes.
Why after accumulating personal standings of .34 with Minmatar and 1.40 with Republic Security Services (values unadjusted by social training) does my corporation still have no standing with Matari or RSS or anyone???

As far as I know you will only gain standings for corps that you are doing missions for. So if you are running for Republic Security Services, your corps standings will only go up with that corp, and the faction that corp is a part of, in this case Minmatar Republic. Then the Corp standings are an average of everyone in corp who's standings are not 0, so if someone has a low (negative) standing that could effect the corps standings quite drasticly depending on how many total players you have. However, I believe that your faction standing can stand in for standing with a corp, so if you have 0.0 to a corporation, but 1.5 to the Faction you can run missions for agents that require 1.5 standing or lower. Agents will take the highest number out of corp/personal standing for corp or faction when deciding to give you missions.
For instance I am running missions for Lai Dai, and my standing with them is nearly 7 unmodded, but I dont have good standing with other Caldari corps (except Expert housing, since they are my storyline agents usually) but my Caldari faction standing is like 2.5 or so, and that will allow me to run missions for any caldari agent as if that was my standing with that corp.
Now these are my observations, and I am honestly not sure about my example of being able to use agents for other Caldari corps, as I am currently at work and cannot check

Bingo, help channel (useless), petition (why bother with the function, I mean really...), asking someone else in the sandbox on the forums first response gets it. Quite a list of standings now, all low of course but standings are there, been old doing missions and the list of standings being empty for the corp.

You will only get a Faction standing raise after doing a Story line mission or COSMOS mission. IIRC you should get a storyline mission offer every 16 missions or so. Also, the corp standings don't update untill downtime and only goes up a certain percentage each day.
E.G. If you are the only person in a corp, and you have a Faction standing to Caldari state at 5.50, it will take roughly 9 days for your Corp standings to match that of your personal standing.

There's also a dispplay bug, where characters within the corp can't see the faction standings.
Check with an out of corp alt, or get someone to check for you.
