Hello everyone, quick question here, I have a friend with a steam account but he can't really afford a game, it's his birthday soon and i'd like ot give him the game as a gift, is there a way in steam to do this?

Buy on his account. Only gifts were with orange box if you already had hl2 / ep 1

Sharing yes, but how will valve know if you logged on and bought him a game? I doubt they'll care either

There's always the boxed option, of course, that cuts out a lot of the smaller more "indie" games on Steam...

Of course if its a valve game you can buy it boxed and then add it to his account

Since I bought the orange box, I now have 1 extra copy of H-L2 and episode 1. Under my game list, it says 1 gift next to those said games. Basically, you can give it to anyone that doesn't have it, free of charge.
Go to this link, the FAQs on steam site. I'm not sure if buying another orange Box set to your account enables you to get those as gift.

It might, but a ú30 birthday present is expensive, unless they're a good friend
