I just spend 2 hours trying to connect to the server and when my time came to connect it timed out and the client crashed, now all I'm getting is an unknown server status...I guess i wont be able to join in on the fun. :(

Singularity will be opened around GMT1000 and will stay open until the Tranquility cluster comes back online. You wonÆt need to patch up to a test version, as all of this will be run using the current TQ client.
Why the big event? We are looking into some issues that have been occurring with our proxy servers, so we would very much appreciate as many players to participate as possible.
Update @ 14:15 from CCP Mindstar
Armageddon Day will continue after the regular Sisi downtime, which has been used to tweak the servers a little and allow for better performance.
Remember that singularity is just a test server, and has nowhere near the same power behind it as the main server, Tranquility.
