Stating the bleeding obvious, but people don't get that upset over a single cookie sheet. There must be other factors going on there.
Sounds like you need to have a conversation with them about what's actually winding them up.

Yep it's obvious this "baking things" thing is an excuse to kick you out. You could at least ask them to let you stay a little longer while you look for a new place to live.

Well open up a dialog to get an extension. See what the factors really are so you can correct them while you look for a new place so it's not too awkward staying there.

That's what we're most likely going to do...at least stay until the 15th of next month - both my wife and I are heading home to visit family so we'd basically be taken care of for another week or two, and that should be enough time to find somewhere else to live.

I once had the misfortune of once living with an evil troglodyte who we had to virtually hold to ransom to get her share of bills etc, had to put up with a smell coming from her room that can only be described as the mother of the bog of eternal stench and would continually use ever pot/pan/utensil/spoon/spork/etc that anyone else in the house owned while washing up slightly less frequently than hedgehogs crap live lobsters (and who couldn't grasp that the basic idea of washing up was to actually remove food from the items being washed up).
She did, of course, do far more for the house than anyone else since she once posted a letter containing a cheque (written by another housemate) to pay a house bill after sitting on it long enough for us to get one of those cool letters with the scary large red font on it. We were also being unreasonable about the cutlery etc too; since we were all welcome to contract salmonella using her rancid cooking things that meant that she could use ours too.
All I can say is, there is always two sides to the story, it may well be that you two are the reasonable people and he's a nutjob. Or not. Either way, there's something wrong and it aint fun having to share the same living space as someone who you desperately want to do things to that would mean you couldn't even feed the body to ravenous pigs.
Best advice - let it slide and move on.

not sure what country your in or if you pay rent or if you have a lease aggrement, tbh thats very important. I am sure most countries have laws as regards renters and a certain ammount of time that the landlord/lady has to provide for the person to vacate the place.

Heh well I can't advise really, but cheap laughs at the expense of previous nightmare housemates are always good:
Mine once couldn't open the washing machine, so she pulled harder, and harder, and then it opened, pouring all the water everywhere, as it hadn't finished. Nice. Then she asked if we could tell the landlord it was one of the others, not her. Hmmm...
Then there was the time she was spraying the carpets throughout the house with air freshener, at 2am... Not just "why?", but "WHY?!?!?!"

I'd be very careful to be honest.
I watched a film the other night about a couple renting a room to a guy, who then assaulted and repeatedly harrased him.
Pacific Heights it was called, and it starred that nice Buster Keaton man.
How much do you really know about this person? Perhaps it might be best just to move on before they get nasty and dissassemble your car whilst you are out at work... or worse.

My wife, being in a more friendly disposition than myself, wrote out housemate back today (we've come in late to avoid seeing her). We basically said that we would like to talk about what caused her decision and asked if we could stay until the 15th in order have a better chance of finding a place to live. Her response:

We pay her 400 a month in rent (she takes care of utilities unless she thinks we're using more than our share), but we're not on a lease or anything like that.

I dont know how your contract is set up or what kind of rules you have for renting but over here a landlord MUST give 30 days upon eviction notice to move out.

Take a laxative or two. Get it a nice and wattery *****. Pop open the tank of the toilet, flush it and pull up the lever that causes the water to come back into the tank when its empty. Jam it good but dont break it.
Sit down and empty your liquid ***** into the tank. Make sure to get every good thing in your guts out. Then when your all emptied, you can release the lever and water will fill up the rest of the tank.
To cover the smell? Put a glade or two around the bathroom. Say its a goodwill gesture. But do this on the DAY before you leave.
Next time your room mate flushes the toilet to clear her urine or *****, only more ***** will come rushing to 'clean' the toilet.

heh got you beat..
my wife and i took in a young married couple,
she was pregnant and they didnt have anoy other place to go.
he refused to keep a job.
found out later they were both using crystal meth.
i woke up one morning at 4 am to her giving birth in my front bedroom. they didn't call an ambulance because they were both high on meth at the time.
(social services took the child)
i had to boot them out because i didn't need social services questioning if i should keep my 12 yr old autistic son.
then 3 weeks later i get a call from my landlord threatening to boot me out because apparently this couple had broken into the vacant apartment downstairs and were squating there.
the maintenance guy came over and took me downstairs. and what did i find?
that they were continually breaking into my apt to steal food and other stuff.....
this was 6 months ago...
two weeks ago they came here again asking if they could come back. because she is pregnant again.
Um, No.

If you don't have receipts, can I suggest you get stuff in writing in the future? Psycho roommates are nothing new unfortunately, so you'll probably run into them again

Okay, depending on where you live, she is required by law to give you a minimum of 30 days to vacate the premises. Some places, this requires a lease. Some places, not so much. Contest it in court, and you've automatically got 60. As long as you're paying to live there, you've got rights. Since she's not being reasonable about the time frame or the dialog, go straight for the throat. Again, depending on where you live, YMMV.
As to the fish idea, I skimmed the thread. I'm assuming the concept is to ruin the house after you leave? If so, and the house has some sort of central heating or air, make sure you throw them suckers back in the ductwork. Adds professional cleanup costs to the horrible smell. Also, if you repaint, make sure you paint the windows shut. Caulk if you can get away with it. Superglue all external locks. Add a locksmith to the costs. Releasing mice or*****roaches is an effective coup de grace.
