Capitals are Tech 1 Ships... but in a whole different class so I don't know quite what to expect out of this.
What do Dreads / Carriers approximately insure for at Platinum level and for how much?
I'm in progress of working up to a capital (no way ready yet.... still need to watch em in fleet battles) so it's a concern I'll have to deal with too, but it's mainly for a friend I'm trying to coax back to EVE after he heard about the dreads role. (DON'T ask..... some people like being stationary targets I guess :/)

Look here. By the time you're flying capitals, insurance really isn't much of a concern. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

Told ya it was a silly question. I'm not so much 'concerned' more-so 'curious' for lack of a better word.

/me is stumped, having never owned (well... flown... I do have a couple battleships stored for future use) anything bigger than a battlecruiser. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

I think it was 450 platinum insurance, with 1.3bn payout. Or something like that. I dont insure my capitals. ----------------------

My goal is to be in a fleet organized enough that I don't have to as well. The question was more to get an old friend back into Eve who 'Never undocks without insurance'. Not that anyone would have bought that excuse no matter how true it may be.

Well then your friend isn't ever gonna be flying a Mothership/Titan. You cannot dock, therefore you cannot insure. ------------------------------ One more soldier off to war... And one Velator in my hangars. |

Serious amount of effort need to be put in from both sides for a mother ship or a titan to go down. Besides with the price tag, not many can afford them anyway.
Some ships, like hacs etc, just arent worth insurance. ----------------------

Agreed.... and honestly, I don't want to fly a Mothership or Titan myself (no matter how much it pains me to see how beautiful the Nyx is :( Part of my strength is going to be being there when the fleet needs a capital, but still being able to easily pop out for other fleet or logistic operations as needed. I'm flying for the fleet, not to move into the biggest, shinest ships.

Amen to that. None of my T2 ships are insured past basic (really I'm doing the opposite... insuring some modules rather then the ship). And I'd probably have only gone titan or MS if I was interested in the command role. ^^
