Hey All,
With the impending SM3/trinity EVE upgrade on the horizon, I'm looking to upgrade my video card.
I'm currently using an nvidia 6600 (GT, I think) with 128M of ram. The 24" screen my wife bought me recently (huzzah!) strains this old card already.
So, I'm looking for an nvidia 8*00 card that will drive a 1920x1200 screen nice and fast.
The question is this: Do I go for a card with 320 or 640 MB of RAM? Is the performance difference more than a couple of percentage points on a pointless benchmark?
(I'll be upgrading my PC as well, so imagine the base PC is up to date)
Many Thanks

HardOCP Did a good review earler in the week about the 320/640 8800 vs a 2900 playing HL2 ep2.
If you have a look the difference in performance isn't great. The tests were done at 1600x1200, and the 640 version will pull ahead a bit more again at higher res. but it wont be a crazy amount.

My e-peen desires a new graphics card also, it is shrinking under the ever-increasing weight of its outdatedness.

Your priority should be DDR3 then how much! _______________________________________________ RuntimeError: ChainEvent is blocking by design, but you're block trapped. You have'll have to find some alternative means to do Your Thing, dude. |

your smoking drugs if you think ram bandwith is going to give someone more of an improvement than a GPU upgrade..
on topic
if its just for eve, and not much else...320mb will suffice...if u plan on kicking its ass with things like ut3 and crysis ect...get the 640mb....
