Seeing that most people don't care for Defender missiles, here is a possible solution:
Allow for CertainTurret Modules to have the option of a point defense mode.
Missiles will be treated as "ships" in the sense they will have a HP rating, ship signature, tank etc.
Players right click on the module and select "Point Defense", this makes the gun engage only incoming missiles.
Turrets that are on PD Mode, will attempt to shoot down Missiles, both of which will be affected by the capsulers respective skills.
Also size still applies: A Small turret does full dmg against a light missile, but may will not be able to do as much damage against a heavy missile. Same for speed: big guns have a greater chance of missing small missiles, and may not do as much damage..
This is still a rough idea but lets hear some thoughts on the subject

Hmm. Nice idea, certainly. The only possible problem I see is that it would create so much more lag. It looks like at least torps will be more heavily used in PvP soon, so with Ravens out there spamming them you're looking at another 6 'ships' appearing every 6 seconds or so. That'll get fairly laggy, fairly quickly.

As far as i know, missiles are already treated pretty much like ships. You just cant click them (like probes).

remember, they're already engageable by defenders as well so does defender spam cause lag?

Well i guess every missile on the field is pretty much like another drone (i dont know the code of ccp, but it looks that way).

Well it seems it would be simple, there are already npc missile batteries that act do this so ccp could just set the same behavior.
