Face it, its going to happen after you guys release Rev 3 isnt it?
I was just randomly thinking maybe you could make them different. Instead of just having some nice new upgrades to the ships etc. Role bonuses/Ship class bonuses. You could go all the way and even make at least the T2 titans (wow, they'll take a while to train for :P) 2-manned ships.
Yes this may be a silly idea and may not be able to work, but in theory if you think about it, titans/all capitals are rather big for just one pilot. What you could do is have 2 people flying the same ship, this may make it very difficult/a strain on peoples heads due to server lag issues and whatnot. But you could split the whole ship into 2 parts, and maybe let these super caps have more slots, maybe like up to 10 hi, mid, and lo slots. Then the 2 pilots could manually select which modules they want to control, this would help...
1 guy could be focusing on the guns and everything. While the other is attempting to keep the ship alive, whether it be shield tanking or armour tanking. You could even have 3 pilots for the titans and only 2 for the other caps, thats if you are feeling crazy. But as you can see this is not a very developed idea, it just popped into my head. Please people dont flame lol, just discuss and what not.

The "lore" behind being able to run such a ship alone is that it has a direct link to your mind. Also note, that computers can not process as much information as fast has the human mind can.
Now if EVE were a fps/flight sim style game it could be a viable option, much like they did with SWG:JTLS. One piloted and fired forward guns, up to 3 others fired turrets placed around the ship. Also a functionally very different concept.
If I may be so bold to do a slight twist to your idea and suggest something I am sure has been thought of before. Create a T2 carrier that is not only able to transport ships directly in the carrier, but allow the ship pilots to be inside their ships while docked. Options available would be to have a hanger style view with access to personal ship hanger/drone bay, corp hanger, ship fit, and ability to change ships with others already docked. other option would be to share (but not control) the view used by the pilot of the carrier. (tapping into their feed). Last would simply be the undock ability that is only available while the T2 carrier is in "launch mode".

Odd... I've not yet flown a POS anywhere... Nor shield tanked with one...
To be quite honest, a tech 2 carrier would have to be pretty impressive. Maybe not two pilots with the same controls, but maybe it would be a good idea to make smaller ships dock in and hold some control over fighters or something? A tech 2 carrier would have to (well hopefully) be amazingly powerful, if it takes two pilots, its another reason to make it more powerful. :)
My thoughts...

This type of thing with the hangers was planned for the Titans however CCP could not come up with a solution to one major problems.
That happens to the other players if the capital ship pilot logs out or crashes ?

Well, maybe you could use it with either 1 or 2 pilots. But make it more effective if used with 2 pilots instead of just the one. You could still make it work, even with the crashes etc.

thats a cool theory
but bigger ships make Eve less fun for the 98% percent of us who have no hope of flying a supercap make new ships with new tactics, not more gank/tank ... if you must make a t2 cap ship, make it just as or more flimsy as a normal cap ship, but give it some neat bonus's that effect the fleets. not the ship _________________________________________________________ Only once you've lost everything, are you free to do anything. |

Did anyone notice that capital modules are already working better than T2? Look at the cap use per shield or armor point, or the capital remote stuff...
It is already better, capital is capital, it's the best of technology, that's all. -- Pocket drone carriers (tm) enthousiast !

We still have several tiers to fill on capitals before we need to worry about tech levels.
A tier 2 titan or tier 4 carrier might get to be what CCP originally intended (dockable ships with services) while other tiers allow these ships to fulfill slightly different roles.
Teir 2 dreads could have more damage and less tank for those who would rather spend isk on a new ship than time taking down POS, tier 3 might be capable of an acceptable level of defense vs smaller ships via a small fighter bay and a drone bonus with bandwidth enough for 5 fighters (Moros for all =P)
Teir 2 carriers could fill the gap between carriers and motherships, increased drone bay, perhaps allowing them to fit the proposed battlecarrier "siege" module and disallowing the Triage mod (where the carrier can fit triage and the MS can fit either)
Not to mention the fact that there exists a huge number of possibilities for new classes of capitals, capital EW with extreme bonuses and the ability to ignore EW invulnerability, capital cap denial (no jump for you Sir), capital interdictor (a floating t2 large bubble), the much requested POS shield ability still waits to be implemented, stealth fields, sub-titan jump portals... the list goes on. Some may be new ships, some new modules, all will add much needed variety.
I'm in no rush to see t2 capitals.
