It's art, wether real looking or not it could still be considered a cartoon.
but I think the main disnition that needs to made is, Faye is not dora the explorer :P
I say this because as an artist I have to exploit minds into ******* that aren't real or soft but just simple lines... and supended your disbelief.
I'd say cowboy beebop does a good job but whatever.
also, samurai champoo is a must see.

thx, we REALLY needed the 9862378423409872935.99th post about this. and when it's not cowboy bebop, it's eva, and when it's not eva, it's naruto...
CCP give us a "anime forum" and make 9867234234 stickies, one per serie... so we don't need a new post every 12 hours about this.

This show had great animation but it was lacking in plot, bad scripts, organization in terms of episodes, some bad characters (Ed and Ein), no point to many of the episodes, stupid situations (like the one with Lesson 1, lesson 2 space alien thing)etc.. the same stuff that other japanese shows lack. The only good episodes in this show were the ones that had Vicious in it and a few other episodes were decent. I would love to find a japanese show with good anime and good writers.

So what you're saying is a series can't be good unless every episode directly connects and is completely vital to forwarding the story?
Yes, it had a lot of 'filler' episodes, but then so does GITS and how is it a bad thing anyway? It all depends on preference.

The show is highly overrated, some decent stuff in it for sure... just no where near 'best'. Started off great and then just went no where slowly. Too many gimmick episodes and throw away plot lines that were devoid of any attempt at drama. Some good music though.

There are plenty of other series out there that have better use of music and sound, which weren't going around saying they are defining a new genre.
