It can take a few days or a few weeks or a few months. Don't petition it, it will be useless.

Be glad it'll only be a few weeks/months. The Server went down right after I joined and I didn't get my char for over 9 months.

the first character that i created had a portrait almost immediately.
This became my main almost two months ago or so and still no portrait :*(
