Ok... is it just me, or is it a bit out there to really use the rorqual to compress ice?
Lets see this...
Dark glitter. 1 unit to = 1 compression. My skills allow it in 48 seconds. Ok, cool.
700-800 fuel consumption for the Industrial core. (assuming skills for both indy reconfig and cap ore ships at 2-3.) And that is every 5 mins. Ouch.
Ok, so I did some math... it would take close to or around 50 units of Dark Glitter to fuel the Rorqual for 1 hour. Thats a lot. To add in, the Rorq only compresses 210 units of ice every hour at 48 second compression. Hmm, more ouch.
Sure, costs aren't much, but damn, shouldn't the time on the indy core be extended? Does anyone else think the same? Or would that be overpowered towards compression of other minerals? I mean, really. 210 units of ice... every hour.. at the loss of 50 of those units for the fuel. Damn, that sucks =/ I think that kind of ruins the point of being an away-from-station 'factory' of sorts because, well, it takes a LOT to even get it running =/
what do you guys think?

You're only factoring in the heavy water here.. don't forget the other stuff that those 50 blocks supply, like the jump fuel and ozone.
I do agree tho that the Rorqual needs more attention. At the moment, if you're not in a big alliance with shielded 0.0 mining areas the ship is pretty useless for anything other than hauling.

With the new jump freighters coming the compression part may not be as useful as first thought.

I am currently thanking my lucky starts that meant I couldn't build those things when they came out.

There had been a similar thread in the features forum and a Gold Bar said that all compressed ice will get decompressed and from then on a compressed ice will be made up of 10 ice blocks. This should fix your issue.

So when is the 10-1 ratio supposed to happen then? If they do that, I'd love it.
And to the comment about forgetting about the 50 blocks of ice - look at it this way... how am I going to move all that easier if its already refined? It cant be compressed. Thus, I don't count it. ;)
